Can you PM me with Stu's contact info? I got an idea that he might be able to help me with! Again, congrats on getting some outstanding looking props! Prof. Piper P.S....Did they come filled with the labeled libation? If so, THAT would make for one heck of a funny routine....Drink-Drink-Juggle-Juggle-Drink-Drink-Juggle-DROP!! LOL

I was fortunate enough to borrow a set of Stu's clubs from Bindlestiff's Keith Nelson for a job a couple years back...they are truly gorgeous, and the audience response is certainly different when they think you're juggling a recognizable object.
Enjoy your new toys, Al aka S (bambouk off broadway run going well...new production photos up on the website!) |

Seeing the Bindlestiff's (as well as Tommy Curtin and Charlie Fry) use them was part of the inspiration for me tracking Stu down and buying a set. Happy to hear that the audience appreciated them. Also glad to hear the good news that the run is going well. I'll have to go check out the photos. S

As promised... here is a link to a little video that I uploaded of our "bottle dance" using the Stu Bottle clubs. A fun little routine to perform. This was an homage to the great "Busby Berkely" style of Hollywood musical production dance numbers. Mid way thru the routine you will hear the audience laugh during points in the solo club swinging section performed by Hardin Minor (the bald guy). What you cannot hear on the tape is he would "accidentally" knock himself lightly in the head a few times while swinging, and then give us the look like we did it. He worked it for some good laughs. Unfortunately the "dink" sound of bottle club to bald head did not translate to the tape. Enjoy.

Gorgeous! And it seems like there may be opportunities for it to develop even further -- maybe some steals in the last bit?
Do you have a director? What's your process like in developing a segment like that? Yes -- I'll be in Winston Salem this summer. I look forward to seeing you there -- maybe we can throw stuff at each other. -Dan P.S. I just a Nils Poll bowler (derby shaped) this weekend! I'm excited to start working on some hat and ball stuff (probably no cane). I'm thinking it will be gentleman jugglerish. Any ideas of videos to check out for beginner/intermediate ball and hat combinations? I'll probably use two and three balls and the hat. I can do some decent hat spins, rolls, and throws and can keep 5-balls in the air, but I've never tried to put the two props together. |
