A friend had asked me if I had seen a particular item shown in a banner ad here. I could not believe what he said it was, so I had to go look for myself. Here is the link:
http://www.maxello.com/index.php OK, my thoughts are the only way to use something like this (expletive deleted) would be in a story presentation, and it would have to be one strange story. I'm not going to pick up this item, but I thought this might be a great way to stimulate the old thought process. Anyone? Tony |

The main connection that I can see is they both have rinds.
All in all. a very strange effect. You can buy a lot of bacon or mellons for eightyfive dollars! But then, perhaps an ESP effect by Dr. Rind would be in order? ( I Know, I know, that's not how his name was spelled.) Kotah |

I could see Pig to Watermelon being used to talk about good and bad choices with eating habits.
Give me a couple of days and I'm sure I can come up with some very strange story line with Pig to Watermelon...this is just the challenge my demented mind needs! Margarette
The only stupid question is the one not asked.

I thought it might be a nice ending for my 3 Little pigs sponge ball routine, but I just cannot get it to fit. Oh well.

A farmer went to market once, planning to buy a fat young pig for his daughter Charlotte's birthday. And what a pig he found there, cute as a button...and he looked smart, too, as bright as a new penny. Yes, that was SOME pig! The man bundled up the pig in an old burlap bag (called a 'poke'), and took the farmer's money. The farmer took the poke and hurried home to his Birthday Girl.
The daughter clapped and laughed when she saw the bag, but cried when she opened it and looked inside. "Aw, Daddy...I was expecting a pig, not a WATERMELON!!!" Pig? In a poke? Charlotte? Rimshot? Yeah, okay, I'll leave now... |

I prefer the simple "Ladies and gentlemen -- the famous pig to watermelon trick!" Sounds like a great opener!

I could imagine talking about various scrying techniques (many of which would be a source of great humor), concluding with a demo of pig-head reading. Have the audience select a food which, lo and behold, would just happen to end up being watermellon. A pass or two over the pigs head and, bam, you can clearly see the audience's selection.

Nicholas,
Great minds think alike. I actually was thinking along the same lines as that as a comical mind reading bit with lots of humor. "right now folks I would like to try and do something different. I would like to attempt to read your minds. Which for some of you ut there should be a peace of cake. Just kidding but I am not going to do the mind reading at all. NOOO first you would have to have a mind and I am a magician. Magician is simply another word for... someone who needs to get a better hobby. No folks I will not be doing the mind reading tonight. However I found someone who is sure to HAM it up. Someone who knows how to bring home the BACON. Someone who you would never want to be caught behind in a buffet line. Yes please give it up for my good friend HAMpton!! (bring out the puppet and pause and stare at the audience) WHAT!!!?? (look at a lady) yes mam this is a pig. No any pig. This here is a South American Mind reading Pig. Them there are a rare breed. They have the ability to read the minds of anyone in the audience. anyone at all anyone much like .. YOU (have HAMpton stare at a person in the front row). hey do not get mad at me. I do not select them. HAMpton does that himself. here is what we are going to do. In a minute Hampton is going to prsent to you a series of cards. each card on it has a picture of what he may want to have for dinner. You are to simply tell him when to stop and that will be your selection. But first let us show you the fine choices Hampton picked out. Let's see here. We have peas, carrots, a big Mac (looks at Hampton and give funny look), fruits,.......... and WHAT!!?? Denzel Washington? Oh right hampton hates his movies. and lastly we have Hampton's favorite of all time.. WATERMELON!!!!! Oh yeah!!!! So we will have you turn your back and Hampton will go through each card and you simply say stop at any point and that is the food you select for Hampton. (now you are basically doing the trick World's greatest. every card you show to the audience has Denzel washington on it and the audiences sees this and laughs). ok say stop at any time. Perfect. Take the card and we will place it face down over here as your prediction. Now Hampton did not influence you in ay way a all and you had a free choice? Perfect. Now Hampton already placed his prediction of what he is HOPING you would select for his dinner (you can have Hamton freaking out or jumping up and down etc.) On the count of 3 you will turn your card around and shout out what you selected for hamptons dinner. 1....2.....3... WATERMELON!! (pause) WHAT!!??? You sure about that. Um ok that is the first time that has ever happened again. Well Hampton is not only hungry but he is a good sport and a good magician cause his card also had. (turn it over) Watermelon. Folks working with a mind reading pig is not always easy, but one thing is for sure.... he is always right (turn him into watermelen and get a good applause) Ok this is just off the top of my head but it is an idea that can work and make sense and actually be pretty funny and play quite well. Hope you like it. Kyle

I seem to recall a white "Oracular Pig" of Caer Dallben, in Welsh / Celtic Mythology traditions.
That said, it will take a more bizarre, Bizarre Magician to tie that tale to the watermelon (which I doubt they cultivated in Wales). My second take, Walt |

It might be interesting for me, since one of my main vent characters is a pig. I could tell a story of Horton Hogg going on a picnic and see if kids can guess his favorite picnic food. When they say watermelon, I say "Right! He ate so much (change) he started to LOOK like a watermelon"
Hmmm I may have to look at the trick again.
