Hey guys. I've just moved to Vancouver and I was wondering if there was a magicians' hangout joint or anything like that. I've already had a chance to stop by the IBM ring 92 and chatted with Joe over at Clowning Around, but are there any other gatherings at all besides those two?

Shawn and Murray are two of the movers and shakers in our area.

Actually, Murray Hatfield owns the Trick and Joke Shop across the water, in Victoria, on Vancouver Island.

If you ever make it over here, the Victoria Magic Circle has a club meeting once a month, and also a Round Table Meeting once a month. The Round Table is for members only, and is more about brainstorming, working on material, etc.

Our club website: http://www.victoriamagiccircle.com

We have a public show coming up in the next month, and also sometime in the next month or so, Bill Abbott is coming to lecture.

One of our club members is opening a coffee shop / Café in Victoria shortly, with a bit of a magic theme, I believe. It will be in the Western Communities. That might become a hang-out spot for magicians in Victoria, aside from Murray's shop.

- Donald

P.S. I think that Vancouver has a SAM Assembly as well as an IBM Ring. However, I don't have contact info for the SAM Assembly.
Donald Dunphy is a Victoria Magician, British Columbia, Canada.

Hey erlandish...

Clowning Around is the place... Saturday mornings is great. That's where I met Jamie Grant, Andrew Gerard... And if you're lucky, you might run into Paul Harris one day.

great to have you here on the wet coast.

Dammit. I wish I had read this sooner. Been in Vancouver performing for the last 3 days at the Westin! I'm very jealous of you guys, as this is a beautiful city, with tons of places that need some magic. Now if I can only save up that 4.8 million dollars for one of them high rise places, I'd totally move here!

Check out the website for The Vancouver Magic Circle - IBM Ring 92 (www.ibmring92.com). The October general meeting is this week on Thursday (Oct 23) at Sunrise Community Hall (1950 Windermere Street, Vancouver). Doors open at 6:30, workshop starts at 7pm. Then we have a guest lecturer, Richard Turner, coming to town Friday Nov 7th. Details are also on the website.
