So, a friend of mine just moved and he gave me a door that has been in his garage for a while. It is a framed door (full size) that is designed for the inside of the house. The door is attached to the frame. Is there an illusion that uses this type of door that I should make? What do y'all suggest.
Of course, I could always pass it along to someone who needs a door, but that would be boring... |

It's probably very heavy and not something you would want to cram into your car and drive to shows with, but there is Mark Wilson's Door Illusion called "Who's There" in his "Complete Course in Magic" book.

Is it a "solid core" (heavy) door or is it "hollow" (spaced with cardboard) on the inside?

If it's a solid core door, turn it into a workbench...
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

You could also install it somewhere in your house up against a wall somewhere... the door to nowhere. Put a sign on it: Magic Den - Top Secret!

It is the hollow, lighter type door. Good ideas. I pulled out my Mark Wilson book. I thought I was going to have to buy an osbourne design. Thanks for that reminder Spellbinder.

That's a great idea! Make sure the candidates for your double haven't seen "The Prestige" when you hold auditions!

With two swinging wings, you can do an appearance ALA the mummy case!
It would pack flat and is worty keeping in case you need to produce the president of some company.

What if you put the hinges on the wrong side or place it in a hallway so it looks like a closet but in reality it leads to the rest of the house.

It might be better (assuming you have a wall with a doorway in it) to rebuild the real door as a book case and then mount the "Door to nowhere" next to it.
Some other great gags (assuming you own your own house and can legally do this kind of thing!) : Mount the door on a wall adjoining a room. Cut a small opening through the wall behind the door into the room... just large enough to push your fist through wwearing a boxing glove when the door is opened from the other side. Or reach through with grabbing hands and try to draw the unwary into the wall (watch out for your hands when they slam the door real fast!). Without cutting through any walls, you can mount a loudspeaker behind the door for erie sound effects as visitors pass by the door. With a secret cable attached to the door, you can make the door rattle, or make knocking sounds. If you are a ventriloquist...go for the gold!
