My tv tells me that Lance Burton is going to be on Letterman, I think it's Letterman, tonight.

Actually it's "Magic Week" on Letterman. Next week Mac King will be on the show.

I saw Lances appearance last night. I was his comedy presentation of the Cane Cabinet. I always liked his presentation of that routine.
Looking forward to Mac King tonight. Best, Tim |

Yes, sorry not sure why I said Mac King on next week... lol.
I really liked Lance's cane cabinet presentation. I haven't seen many illusions with that kind of comedy twist that he does. It was very good. And I love that P&T are closing off magic week on the show heh.

Mac rocked the house, but the camera work was a little sad.

Reminds me of an appearance by Lance Burton on The Tonight Show when Johnny Carson was the host. Burton was doing a appearance of a small bird from his empty, gloved hand. The director went to an extreme close-up of his hand so the viewing audience could clearly see from where the bird was emerging.

During the live shows its done a bit slower and at the right time more attention is focused on the hands clapping in the backdrop used in the act. Its a funny bit but the timing makes it work best. I saw both Lance Burton's effect and Mac King's short act. Both were good and well-received, although Letterman seemed to have a good time with Lance Burton's self-described title of "master magician." Lettermen didn't let that title get by easily.
My prevailing thought, however, was that - for the first time since Jason Randall -Letterman is showing a seeming regard for magic. Gianni |

Dirk Arthur did well tonight. I think his dove/pigeon production gave him a bit of a hard time for a second but he got by it fine.
It'll be interesting to see Wyrick tomorrow. Best, Tim |

I honestly didn't now where to look when I was watching Lance's routine lol.
And I had a feeling before I saw Mac King that he was going to do his Goldfish routime. I have yet to see Dirk, plus I have never heard of him before heh.

My wife who isn't into magic, really enjoyed Lance and loved Mac, but she did not like Dirk Arthur's performance...it seemed like he had more time than anyone else too...I personally was not impressed with what I saw except for the appearing tiger...the tiger being led off made Dave disappear...lol

Hi Terry,
What didn't you like about Dirks performance? I got a call shortly after the show from a friend who has been watching this week and he had never heard of Dirk before but called to tell me he was the best of the 3. (in his opinion) He squeezed a lot of magic into a short time and seemed to win the audience over so I say "KUDOS" to him. Best, Tim |

Don't hate me for saying this...but I think it's just the "same 'ol, same'ol". I would like to see some new blood; Someone that actually makes me want to stay up and watch.
Seen it all before. getting...sleepy... now...ZZZZzzzzz |

Justin,
Part of the issue is the same ol' same ol' problem that shows like letterman don't want to offer new names and won't give them a chance. I'm guessing they want to be able to offer names to the public instead of unknowns. This is a shame as there are LOTS of fresh acts that need some exposure. I can think of lots of acts that would go over great as part of magic week! Best, Tim |

Tim is right on with his his statement that there is a lot of great performers who would have been good for the week...Tim for one
...for me, the first part was nothing great, he struggled with the dove and duck production. As I stated earlier, I liked the first tiger production. I have nothing against Dirk, I've never seen him perform before, and what I've seen from our clips Tim, I would rather see your show. |

I know how it works but I've seen it live several times (when it ran smoother..lol) and was always amazed how many birds come from it. Wouldn't you know that it'd get a hitch on live tv. Isn't that the way it always goes? LOL Best, Tim |
