Another "overnight" 32-years-in-the-making success. From all reports, it could not have happened to a nicer, more deserving guy.

I remember seeing Terry with Texas the Band way back - and thought he was awesome then. Bet now they are kind of sorry they split ways with him. They wanted him to drop the vent and just do the impressions as cover songs.

Terry deserves every penny, what a great guy and a great talent! When he did Louis Armstrong ( I think it was the turtle doing "What a Wonderful World") I just about lost it (I'm a big Louis fan).

Ironically he uses our "Jazzman" (Louis Armstrong character) to do Marvin Gaye etc. Here is his on Oprah... he calls him Julius. Here is a great video of the Oprah appearance... http://www.axtell.com/jazzman.html
He sing Louis Armstrong as himself and does a "What a Wonderful world" duet with the Turtle as Kermit the frog. Here Terry is with the new Turtle we built for him and is announcing his $100 million deal with the Mirage.... The press conference story is here http://www.axtell.com/new.html

I saw Terry in concert recently in SLC. Got great seats for about $35 a seat. Probably the last I'll see of that. What a great, funny show. I'm really happy for him and hope he stays as nice as he seems to be. His show made me wish I could be a ventriloquist! (And that I could sing!

Great things happening to a GREAT person!
I met Terry several years ago at a Faire....He was genuine, honest, and just a great all-around guy.... His success is VERY well deserved and the "Fruit" of some VERY hard labor... Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! Go Terry, GO!!! Prof. Piper

I just read in another forum over a comment posted by Tim Selberg...that Tim made a new figure for Terry...the new Julius!?
I thought Terry was doing quite well with the Ax Jazzman...

There you go...as posted at The Ventriloquist Central via Tom Crowl's update...
Terry has a new Julius...a Selberg figure. I wonder why?

Perhaps Terry just wanted his own custom.
The Jazzman is available to anyone from Ax's site. But I don't see Selberg displaying a Julius figure to the public. Or am I off in left field? But then why didn't Ax make Terry his own custom Julius? Perhaps Terry just wanted to spread the wealth, so to speak. Who knows, but God bless them all

Good point Tod
or it could also be the way a hard figure is manipulated...because as you have pointed out, Ax could have easily made him a custom Julius. My guess is that he wants to use different kinds of figures in his act to avoid hand stress or something as far as figure manipulation is concerned.

Hey guys -
Found out today that Selberg has the new Julius in his possession, making a few changes that Terry wanted. VentHaven was the first time Terry used that puppet on-stage. I assume he will go back to Axtell's while that change is made. Terry is definitely spreading the wealth - in addition to Selberg, he has several other makers doing work for him which he mentioned from the stage. If you didn't hear, he also donated $10,000 plus his convention pay to the museum. He was genuinely gracious to everyone here, a class act all the way. |
