I am not condeming anything. Only reporting what I saw. It was a past life demonstration. The problem started when he took her to the last few moments before her death in the past life. The show had to be stopped she was hysterical and the hypnotist had no control over the situation. He looked very incompetent at this point and also distressed. It was bad for hypnotists in general and was lucky it never made the press. Perhaps that's what happens when you spend £30 on a thin book then pass yourself off as an expert?

I am reporting what I saw you make up your own mind. I have seen many screw ups over the years apart from the fun of it arguing on here is a waste of time. it accomplishes nothing.

Personally I wouldn't go near any form of regression on stage pretend or otherwise.

The event on stage I witnessed was very disturbing and the participant was obviously very distressed. And the hypnotist had no control over it.

I know that many hypnoTISTS believe that many hypnoTHERAPISTS are lesser than them in the art of hypnosis. It makes for a good philosophical argument, that's for sure.
But in the above situation I think it could well be argued that many trained and experienced hypnoTHERAPISTS would have handled that situation much better than the hypnoTIST on the night.

A hypnotist (in my definition) is one who practices and is expert in hypnosis. That would mean they have a good understanding of clinical hypnosis as well as stage. I can't see how you can really sepearate them especially if you are going to do any type of regression. Or be prepared for any abreaction.

I don't think there is any argument Bobser we agreeeeeeeeeee...

(did I just agree with Bobser?)

I think you would love an indignant list of hypnotists to argue you with you.

However I will just state that ALL hypnosis is imaginary. Also non existance of Hypnosis is ALSO imaginary. Since that is the case it doesn't matter which side you take they are both examples of trance. And to argue about which one is which is like being at two different sides of a football match taking penalties.

However Im am sure you are experiencing "an excitement of the imagination", at the thought of annoying a group of hypnotists. (another trance)

I have never ever had any worry or concern for having an abreaction on stage either. Since its the volunteers that are at risk not the hypnotist.

I am reporting accurately what I saw and the outcome. And its up to anyone to conclude the risks or take what they want.

And how can you hypnotise thousands of people if you don't believe it exists? If you don't believe yourself how can you expect us to believe you? I thought you excited your volunteers imagination?

I would like to warn! Only long studied hypnotists should do age regression cause you can stumble on a problem in your subjects life by accident and may harm them cause they are reliving their horror of e.g. a rape or accident etc.

So nothing for beginners with 15! Just inform yourself and learn first!

If you want to do regression, get some proper training first. Don't just read one book and think you can go to it. I for one am strongly against using regression in an entertainment performance. I've seen it a couple times and it can be rough. If you're not doing therapy, then don't go mucking about with trauma or death memories and the like - whether or not you believe the pastlife is genuine or metaphor. As to regression proper, it's illegal in some countries to perform it as part of a show and tasteless in most others.

I am a proponent of hypnoanalysis which includes regression for therapy but not for entertainment.

For my shows, I wouldn't go near it.

All the best,

I agree with the majority that regression work needs to be studied in depth, not just some overnight book. I'm trained in regression and it can get pretty nasty sometimes. It's important to know the in's and the outs. I would recommend training from the following people if your interesting in learning more about regression. Gerald Kein, Stephen Parkhill who you can find on Gerald Kein site and Randy Shaw and Matt Sison who are really great at regression work.

I also agree with Brian that you would be better off leaving regression for clinical or office work and not the stage. - My Personal Hypnosis Information & Article Blog.

Our reality is nothing more than perception. So if this is the case, is there any such thing as reality since our perception is always changing?
