I have heard that they were beaten out by a magician call Kim Chi doing the Hummer/UFO Card around the body. The Pendragons performed their pole levitation and that beat them. Just goes to show you that this show is not about talent and all about BS! This of course is not offical yet but just somEthing that I heard.

His name is Shimshi. A regular at the Magic Castle and performs regularly here in Vegas as well.

Now I remember him. I saw him at Vegas' Worlds Greatest Magic Show. He did a great job. You can see his video here. (Worth watching for something very original.): http://www.shimshimagic.com/
BTW....We all love the Pendragons but I'm guessing the producers leaned towards Shimshi because he's younger and got that image the viewers of the show will love to cheer on to victory. Because he is younger, he's easier to market as NEW talent (a discovery). I'll be rooting for him. Go Shimish! Best, Tim |

What BS. Shimshi is great, especially his "Backflip card revelation." I don't know what he calls it, but you'll know it when you see it. I like his work, but he's no Jon and Char. Especially with a floating card effect that any kid who's been to Vegas knows how to do. (That is the only trick Houdini's sells, right?)

LOL I just can't see how they could try and promote the Pendragons as amateurs trying to work their way up. They need a young person to pin the hopes of America on because it makes for good television. Remember .... most people actually think this is a contest for undiscovered talent. LOL Best, Tim |

Score one for the little guys. Good for him. That can't look good on the old resume for the Pendragons. To be beat in an amateur talent show. LORL!

It's been reported MANY times that thing is definitely not an amateur talent show. We only get excited by the names we know. If this was a forum of acrobats or jugglers or whatever, there a probably tons of acts that are famous to those guys.(Man, can you believe Jimmy the Juggling Gigilo got on AGT? He's been working in Ringling Bros. for years!) We know that just because someone isn't a household name and has his own TV show doesn't mean he's not one of the best. Ask a layman friend if they've heard of John Carney or Jamy Ian Swiss. "If I've never heard of them, how good can they be?"
Or how about the fact, there is quite a bit of speculation to this thing even being a contest. Especially when they INVITE professional acts to "audition." They basically do it to get exposure. You think Nathan Burton's success, (and rumors to move to the headline night spot when Toni Braxton splits) have anything to do with the fact that he is recognizeable from being on this show? This show is about the same thing that every other TV show: Ratings. |

Yeah Shimshi is not a amateur either. He does great magic and hopefully he does well! But I always knew this was a bad move for the Pendragons...!

Pepka. I do believe also that you are right. That there are certain things the producers do in order to get names on the show and agreements with folks. Of course I do not know this as fact by any means but it certainly is the way things have been done in the past. After all it is a business as well and they do want the ratings so will do what they need to do to acquire them.

Magicians are so easily fooled. It's TV! It's fiction, fake, rigged. C'mon people. They are not going to leave a multi-million dollar international property to chance. None of these shows do; people on an island, or in a house, dancing, singing, or whatever. It's all Hollywood. They put reality in front of it and all of a sudden you believe it's "real". Live in Hollywood and you realize that reality no longer exists. There is no governing body so they can say or do whatever they want. They want someone they can sell. Whoever wins they get a piece of, a percentage in all the money he/she makes afterwards. It's part of the contract. They want drama, they edit it however they want to make it is more compelling.
Do we need to tell you the truth about the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus as well? |

If it's true ... I'm glad they got booted. They shouldn't have been on there in the first place.
What happened to something called pride?? They are above all this nonsense. Steve |

I remember shimshi was on the french show "le plus grand cabaret du monde" some years ago and he has been doing a transparent cut-a-girl-in-three and a card trick with the ex tennis pro justine henin.

A lot of people familiar with the Pendragons were puzzled about why Jonathon and Charlotte agreed to go on AGT. Along with others at the Café I felt they had a lot to lose and not much chance of gaining out of it. The format of the show and the audience it's pitching for mean it's biased towards musical acts and precocious youngsters. Magic and other speciality acts are vulnerable to being made to look bad through unfavourable editing and other problems.
The Pendragons went into it with a reputation in the business as one of the top acts in the world. I guess they (or their agents) were hoping AGT would sell them to new demographics. But large audiences do not necessarily mean good promotion. The danger is that they come out looking like they were eclipsed by amateurs. Full credit to this other magician people mentioned - If he's come out of it favourably then good for him. If he's a hip young future star then maybe if AGT gives him positive exposure then it'll not only boost his career but promote magic to new audiences (although I'm skeptical about how far any magician will ever get on this show). But as a lesser known performer before AGT he had much less to lose than the Pendragons. I truly hope that their undoubted skill and charisma will eventually let them rise above this episode. |

The show itself is not something I'd participate in myself. When it first debuted I predicted it'd be a modern day gong show and I feel I was right. There have been some good moments but Rappin Granny moving to the finals did it for me. Part of the show is to berate the acts. They actually have onsite counselors to comfort you after the judges make you look like a fool on stage. You have very little if any control over lighting or sound and you get ONE shot. The judges will eat you alive if they get the chance. Best, Tim |

What does PRIDE have to do with it? They performed their magic on a popular network TV show. Pendragons As Seen on America's Got Talent! Sure we know they are famous. But lay people forget and a new generation has no idea who they are. Regardless of whether they win or not, the fact they appeared on the show is why professional acts do it. The juggling duo the Passing Zone already have a great career, but the exposure only helped to get their name out to more people? Nathan Burton was already working in Vegas and the exposure only helped to boost his career. David and Dania weren't hurt by appearing on the show. By the way, the Vent who won last year was hardly a young guy.
