It's in there ... let's go see it, it's only a buck ... OMIGOD WHAT IS THAT THING!!!??? Don't be afraid, it's only Doug Higley, maker of the darnedest sideshow gaffs you ever saw.
A man of many facets with a long and colorful history, Doug has a lot to say. What else? Well, we have another ancient recording - a man who never worked in a 10-in-1 but belonged in one. Plus a "Website of the Week" you'll love! Download it directly from THIS LINK or see the podcast notes page HERE |

Man, Ross! I clicked on the website of the week and the headline is The Pope says it's OK to abuse children! Are you trying to be "edgy"? I'm not Catholic, but you have probably lost some listeners after this. I will still listen, but I have to say in my opinion you made an unwise choice in the site of the week.
I hope it does not reflect on Doug. Rappel |

I thought it was a great site--lots of very funny stuff. In fact, I've told people to listen to Ballycast just because I liked the Site of the Week so much.
And I also asked Jesus to sit on my heart. Rappel, you should check out the Onion website; it's full of very serious reporting, too.

[*think ... ponder*] No, but it's not that far from real. Actually pretty darned close if you think about it.' Is April often 'over the top,' way WAY into the area of gratuitous offense? Well, yeah. But then, also, sometimes when I'm watching 'South Park' or SNL and going 'YES!!!' because they're skewering something that seriously needs skewering, I cringe when they throw in something guaranteed to offend the entire audience. I used to lament the 'over the top' moments, and then I figured it out. Can you guess what I concluded about the 100% offensive content? Was it (1) because the writers, like the public, have become completely numbed by the offensiveness of life in general, so why not? Was it (2) because the writers were thinking 'many will be put off by this week's point, let's send 'em a reminder that EVERYBODY oughta just get over themselves'? Or was it (3) because the writers were thinking 'what the heck, let's give them a big old slap upside the head.'? Answer: All three. If I lured you down a dark alley and gave you a shock, I apologize. Really, I'm sincere about that. Now let's all just get over ourselves and have fun with life. BTW, I want to point out to everyone that my podcast (although it does advertise my products) is designed, produced, written and published just exclusively to please me. I love talking to these people, I love media production, I'm having a ball. I already backed off on a major segment of raunch ... what might that have been, you ask? Well, remember, it's sideshow ... and a big part of sideshow is 'OMFG I don't believe I saw that, I'm gonna barf.' With 'crime shows' and 'Hitler's staff car / Medieval tortures / Bonnie & Clyde's Death Car' in mind, I have the recorded detailed confession of Ted Bundy, and a live recording of the Jonestown mass-suicide. I pondered - should I include them? No, not right. Should I direct the strong-stomached to a separate link? I thought awhile ... disgusting, bad taste in the extreme, but for sure you can't leave these unaffected and that's SOMETHING (I figured that if real life, like the Iraq war, doesn't offend you, don't moan about this) ... but I just couldn't do it. Even my younger kid, who joins me for popcorn and HOSTEL 2 for jollies, said not to dare do it. So no. Just something to think about, and if almost everyone deserts the 'cast because I'm revolting, I suppose I may still have a couple of deeply-disturbed core listeners. So there, I've bared my dirty secret - if I've offended, I'm sorry. Mostly. |

Doug's part is nice.
Because I have dial-up, I don't usually download this sort of thing. It takes forever. This is the first ballycast I've listened to, and it was well worth the wait. Thanks, guys, for doing this.

Stephon, did you say you wanted Jesus to sit on your chest?
Speaking of "it's all how you look at it"... check out this pic http://poetry.rotten.com/jesus-with-boy/jesus-with-boy.jpg Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, the pic is from a childrens bible book. Jesus is CONSOLING the child.... if you think otherwise you got a problem!

Okay, Nippulini, you're next! Look for Nippulini's interview early in June (it's a good one!).
BTW, I just read Nippulini's tagline - "The Great Nippulini, body piercer, blacksmith and man with The World's Strongest Nipples." I'm a little shook up - I keep picturing someone slaving over an anvil, forging body-piercing instruments and studs by swinging a giant hammer attached to his chest ... I'm not gonna be able to get that image out of my mind for awhile. |
