Anyone else think this show was super lame?
It could have been so much better, but they went over the top with the half truths, pseudo-science and conspiracy crackpots.

I hated the "they're made of the same stuff as microchips, so they must work similarly" logic. Microchips are not blobs of pure quartz crytsal. They're carefully and specifically doped bits of silicon and germanium, and it's the transistors and logic gates that are carefully, microscopically etched in the substrate that makes an IC and IC, not so much the raw material it's made from. (Crystal is actually a pretty horrible conductor until it's doped.)

One truly interesting property of quartz and crystal however is the piezoelectric effect, but that was a golden opportunity they totally missed!!

Question for the Mayan experts: does the fact that their calendar end in 2012 mean they really believed the world was ending, or is it simply possibly that they figured 2012 was far out enough in the future and they just didn't care beyond that date at the time the calendar was created?
I mean, how many hundreds of years into the future is a culture likely to worry about, when the next year's crops are a larger, more pressing concern?
Sort of the same thing exists in UNIX today (and the old Y2K bug - remember that? Smile), where certain computer clocks may "wrap around" and reset in 2038.
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

I believe there was one mention of the piezoelectric effect, but it was so off-hand and brief that it was hardly there at all.

I am interested in about all things occult, but this New Age propensity for chasing after sixteen ridiculous ideas before breakfast drives me nuts. A little critical thinking can do wonders.

Most of my skulls are named Yorrick, or some derivation of the name. However, my Crytal Skull is nicknamed Lucy in tribute to my favorite skull energy healer and practitioner of all things booga booga.

Lucy is actually short for Lucite, which is a name more fitting for her character and constitution.

I wonder how many crystal skulls are collectively held by Café members? I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it was over 100.

The site about the subject: http://www.mitchell-hedges.com/
But, there's more: http://www.mitchell-hedges.com/category/the-virgin-of-kazan/
Another interesting relic, especially if you own an antique XVIIth or XVIIIth century icon of the Virgin of Kazan in your collection.
