We had some friends over last night and they was bugging me to show them some tricks. So I went and grabbed a random deck from my 'good decks' pile. I did a short AC, a color monte and then to conclude the thing I wanted to do a couple of color changes. So I had one of them shuffle and cut the pack, I did a DL and turned over a four of hearts, a nice Erdnase change and changed the card into... a four of hearts!
What are the odds? Not only had I accidentally grabbed a deck that for some reason had 'gained' an extra card, they also was next to each other after extensive handling and ended on the top. So, next up is to go through my good decks to make sure they are in fact good. Then put a couple aside and never ever use them except for such impromptu stuff at home. I always go through everything before I do a planned show but when doing 'random card effects' I've always just grabbed a deck I believed to be good. Also, most 'non-good' decks are missing cards (or are just worn out) so the chance of hitting a dupe has never entered my mind. |
