" THE CRIMSON BOUTONNIÈRE "
As on battle fields of yore long before; in the War to end all wars. There on Flanders's field, soil tiled by bombs, or dug to bury dead' did yield a crop of poppies. Red sentries standing, heads bowed as if in prayer. Marking with the crosses the places where the lads had fallen . Crimson reminders, commanding reverence. To this day, the words of Major John McCrae ring true: "In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields." Words and thoughts penned in 1920 ; help to tell why a Poppy, in memory of the sacrifice , is worn on our lapel. Sadly, some words also explain why battlefields and wars remain. " Take up OUR quarrel with the foe. Mankind has indeed, and so, Poppies in abundance grow. Why can no one hear the whispered message of the crimson boutonnière ? A production of single poppies ,one at a time at finger tips is nice. Simply attach the veteran poppy to a cigarette catcher gimmick. Done as a sort of coin pail routine; tossing into s woven basket. Emptied at the end in a flood of red, like the blood of the many lost to war. Kotah |

No thanks is ever required from us.
It is our job and we do it willingly for those we love.
