Hello everyone!
Im working on a mentalism show that I will be performing this summer the show is already done but I'm thinking about adding some more things to it and I'm thinking about adding a routine using muscle reading to find a hidden note. My question is, what reactions have you got from performing muscle reading? Is it worth adding to your show? |

I've seen Kreskin do it and he blew the audience away.

I have not yet mastered it, but it seems quite apparent to me that it is the single most versatile skillset that a mentalist can cultivate.
Virtually any effect normally accomplished with peeks, center tears, etc. can be reproduced with muscle reading. It is as close as we can get to real mindreading. |

There's a thread in inner thoughts that discusses a couple of specifics...dunno what it was called though..
but with all things based around learning certain esoteric skills - do it in conjunction with a surefire effect, a tiny safety net to build confidence...then build from there...

I am curious how this is coming. I worked on this for sometime and it just never came out 100% for me. And I was not willing to risk it in a show. For small groups that were interested, it did seem to work well, but admittedly the pacing tends to be slow for this kind of piece.
Not sure I would want to risk it for a larger audience. So give us an update. Richard S |

I saw the late Franz Polgar do the check finding number back in 1973. He was incredible. He made it look like the real thing.
He went out of the hall while they hid the check. He came back into the hall, the medium took his wrist, and Polgar walked directly over to the place where the check was located, pulled it out of the student's pocket, checked to make sure it was signed, and walked out of the hall. It was perfect!

Needs a lot of practice but when you have it down it is real strong. I had one time when a lady led me around so directly I thought she was pulling my leg, but after talking with her later I realised she had no idea how I found the item she had hidden! That does not happen often. Always impressed with Kreskin! Talked with the lady responsible for hidding his check before each of four nights of preformance for over 15 years and he never failed to find his check!

He failed in Houston about 25 years ago. He was ill and couldn't get the message.
That's probably the only time that there were enough people in a hall to remember it. Although he lost a bundle, the publicity he got was worth it in the long run.
