Maybe this should have been a trick on a dvd with about 9 others. I agree the demo is a bit misleading.

I agree that this would be misleading to newbies that have no clue as how this type of effect could be done. But it is obvious that without gaffs there would only be one possible solution.

The demo video says at the bottom of the screen that it has been edited for demo purposes so I really don't see this as misleading. You can clearly tell that parts have been cut out and it's not like John was trying to hide the fact that the demo was edited. If he would have posted an unedited demo the method behind the trick would have been obvious and there would be no reason for people to purchase it. The demo seems fair to me.

For those of you who felt the editing was fair, why do you think that part was edited out? Do you think it was merely to save a bit of time in the demo with no other motive?

That's exactly why the edited version is unfair. Or is this post simply a superb piece of sarcasm. If so, I tip my hat to Matt. Gianni |

Gianni, they didn't want to tip Bannon's work on equivoque. Simple as that. And there are plenty of reasons to buy it. There is a lot more work on it than what could be seen even in an uncut demo.
The ebook gives a lot of interesting tips and presentational ideas. There's more to this than you might think. And ultimately, the reason to buy it would be that IT'S JOHN BANNON'S EFFECT WHICH HE WORKED HARD ON. If you want to perform it, you should buy the rights to do so.

Gianni,
I'm not sure if your posts are serious. Obviously what you're paying for here is Bannon's routine. If he had posted the entire thing unedited, what would be the impetus for someone to buy it? Were you honestly not aware that the video had been edited? It's not subtle. |

If you carefully read the posts here, it becomes obvious that all of the negative criticism is coming from a few people who haven't purchased, practiced, or performed Duplicity.
I purchased it, practiced it, and performed it several times in the last couple of weeks. It is a real winner...and, after 60 years in magic, I am very, very picky. Best regards, Glenn Godsey |

I just got it today and couldn't be happier! I just love Bannon's stuff and I'm in love with Liz as well!
I find his DVD's to be of high quality and well explained, Ebook is well done and any "extra" cards are always top notch! Even his freebie "thank you" trick is a goody! He has me as a loyal fan and customer! Mick |

I have ordered mine and am anxiously waiting for it. ALL of Bannon's stuff is amazing and so workable. I actually love equivoque - it's so practical. Any work on patter, if effective, is well worth it to me. I'll post back when it arrives.
I'm just wondering though, to those who have been criticizing the demo and the effect, have any of you bought it and tried it? Are you upset because the patter wasn't anything new to you or is it simply because the effect relied on a principle you already knew?

It is very simple and easy to do. I have used it several times now and have gotten some really good responses. I like it.

I have the DVD, but I can't figure out how to access the e-book on my Mac. John's instructions are for Windows.
Any help will be appreciated. Glenn Godsey |

It's o.k. I still like B'Wave better.
It was interesting to read the 'Magic' magazine piece on John Bannon and David Solomon. In it he says that magicians will buy anything!

Ultimately that's why reviews on effects are so tricky. When someone discovers something they think is new they are excited and tout the effect but another purchaser feels they bought nothing save what they already have. Gianni |

Well if it's Max Maven's work, why would John be selling it under his name? Surely he added something to the handling for it to be put on the market? Regardless, the routine is very strong and looks pretty workable so even if it's an old method, if it entertains and works, it's worth it.

I know it's Maven's work. Sorry for not stating that properly. However, I still say it's why the demo was edited.
And this is not a case of me thinking this is some kind of new, revolutionary method. I knew what I was getting into when I bought this. As did most people. But I thought it was very, very clever. It may be simple, but, it's highly effective. It's actually amazing that no one thought of this effect before. Or maybe someone did and was keeping it to himself. And how is that Pandora's Box? This effect isn't B'Wave, although it's built upon it, it's ultimately very different. As was Twisted Sisters.

It's Bannon's non-gaffed version of Twisted Sisters. It's his trick, so I think he decided to release it as the second installment in the series. I bought it, and I'm glad I did. I got one excellent tip from watching this DVD. The first and third songs on a CD are usually the best. ;-)
