A good friend was telling me about Alistar Crowley, I believe it was. What was or is the proper spelling?

Aleister Crowley was said to have spent his honeymoon in the king's chamber of the great pyramid. At that time he was "given intructions" to update the Tarot. Although he wrote it all down and made sketches of what the cards would look like, he didn't live long enough to see them in printed form. I believe we could come up with A LOT of routines with Crowley as the center.
Any ideas????

Anything you need to know about Crowley or his legacy I would be happy to answer.

Here is a poem I wrote concerning the writing of Liber Al - The Book Of The Law - it may give you a little background.

The Equinox of the Gods

On April 8th and 9th and 10th
Of 19 and 04
There came a man and his wife
From Britain’s Holy shores
And Cairo was the place he choose
To bring his lovely Rose
So weary of his chosen path
Even Magick, he supposed

And as they laid in languor
To Rose, the Sylphs he’d show
So summoning the Bornless One
Invoking IAO
The Sylphs she could not see
These things she did not know
All of a sudden she was inspired
And from her mouth did flow:

They’re waiting for you
It’s all about the child
They’re waiting for you, she cried

A pretty one was Rose indeed
Her man did not believe
These things she told him of the Gods
These stories she did weave
So testing her, he took her to
A museum in Cairo to find
To find an image of the Child
The Crowned and Conquering Lord

Past images and likenesses
And down through corridors
Rejecting all familiar ones
To find the true Horus
There he is – she did cry
And the Stele was revealed
And 666 the label was
That surely was the key

They’re waiting for you
It’s all about the child
They’re waiting for you, she cried

Horus invoke-ed and three days long
He worked with his good wife
Three chapters written through his hand
Three chapters good and true
Nuit, Hadit and Conquering Child
Manifested in total
Through power and beauty and genius
The Law is for All

That rich jewel lay it forever
In Scotland’s fair Boleskine
Banished there by the man
But the Gods they were a-keen
Finding it, he knew the truth
All along the Prophet he’d been
Ushering in a New Aeon
Of Light, Life, Love, Liberty

They’re waiting for you
It’s all about the child
They’re waiting for you, she cried

Do what thou wilt is the law
Do that and none shall say nay
Every man and woman is a star
There is no difference
Sweet Scarlet Woman thy Beast is here
Come ride upon his back
Completeth the circle, all in none
Together ye shall reign

And as we Feast and celebrate
The writing of the Book
As Freedom’s warriors guard ye well
Don’t slip to slave-god’s nook
So hoist our banners to the winds
Your freedom is assured
Be proud ye mighty soldiers
Fight on in freedom’s name

Jim Magus has an excellent routine based around a tarot deck haunted by the spirit of Aleister Crowley. It is called "The Number of the Beast." You can find it in Magus' book, The Arcana of Bizarre Magic.

I performed my variant version of this, which I call "The Exorcism," at Weerd Weekend when it was in Albuquerque, New Mexico. (I have not yet published my version of Magus routine.)

I just looked up "The Number of the Beast,." Wow! A very interesting routine. I was looking for something to do, along with the Spirit Covenant (see Rick's book). Combined, these will play big!

Thank you, Bill, for reminding me about Jim's routine. I would love to see your version of it when you produce it for sale.

Unfortunately, I do not plan to market The Exorcism. Everything I use in it is one-of-a-kind and handmade.

I do this in the character of a fundamentalist lay minister. In brief:

The hollowed-out Bible (that holds the tarot deck) is encased in a cruciform cage of wrought iron bands. It is locked with a padlock that must be opened. This is an inverted form of the Seven Keys to Baldpate. (The spectators don't want to select the key that opens the lock.)

The Devil card slides out of the deck when I challenge Crowley to appear (Haunted Deck). After the attempt to exorcise Crowley's spirit fails, a cross standing on my table bursts into flames, and I rip open my shirt to reveal the mark of Satan in blood on my chest.

(I select my helpers at the close-up table from the audience carefully.)
