Hi Guys,
I am creating a word search puzzle handout for my new library coloring sheets. What are some good magic related words that I should include. So far I have Houdini, Magician, Magic, Assistant, Tricks and Illusions. What are some more good words for the kids to find? Lou

There are a few sites for teachers (like my wife) that generate the puzzle from whatever words and parameters (sizewise) you enter. Be sure to use some words that are specific to YOUR show, and put your name in there, too.

Just do a search on Google and you will find tons of free programs for creating a word search puzzle. I would use one of these and then copy and paste it into a word document which you can fancy up with images, contact info and so on.
Some words for you...start with your stage name, name of your animal if you use one, any theme words if you do i.e. reading, character, etc. Your magic words, effects that you use in your program, amazing, wonder, awe. jeff |

On my hand-outs the words I use are:-
Trick Vanish Rope Blendo Silk Fun Magic Abracadabra Rabbit Wand I also got them translated, by a parent, into Polish for a show on Saturday for Polish National Children's Day. I also hid Polish towns around the grid. This inspired me to use parents and staff to check my translations of other languages, via Babel Fish from the net. Of course blendo and abracadabra are universal which is why I use them. One tip I got from a parent of youngsters (3-4) was not to have words running diagonally. So now I don't. I'll probably have two or three different ages of wordsearches next season. A lower one for kids to do with a mom, harder one's as a challenge. Currently, I'm writing the wordsearches using Excel on a pda at school (it's exam time), then inport them into Publisher / pdf. At home I'd use Schoolhouse Technologies' Vocabulary Wordsheet 3. Anyway the kids seem to love them.
