Hi - I need to develop a few tricks with business cards. Obviously the usual sleights are, almost, all possible. Just need a bit of inspiration. Apart from the Mark Wilson video, does anyone know of any readily available printed, or online, resources for this?

Diamond Jim's pocket full of miracles has a great business card routine where their playing card is burned into the business card. This 2 set tape also has tons of other great walk around restaurant type magic some is shot on location.
Nothing of the same will bring any change, take action today!

Ammar's Miracle with Theads videos has several routines related to rising, floating, and spinning business cards.

Besides card routines, some dollar bill routines can also be adapted to business cards. In fact just today I was fiddling with a bill transposition done with business cards. I'll PM you when I get it worked out.
Speaking of the Mark Wilson video, any opinions on it? I'm on the fence about buying it. Quinn
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

It's great, You will love it. I have two, One in my close-up case and one in my everyday wallet. It's easy, cute, worth the price ($15.00 I think)..Mark |

I never leave home without my loaded Stockholder. That way I always have something ready if I need it, and it's a great way to bring my card into use.
I also use both sides of my card since I print them myself at home. That means my card can automatically be used for different effects, together, or singly. Maybe a Stockholder/Thought Transmitter combination, and a good business card center tear. There's also some graphics tricks you can employ. Maybe you can get the Business Card Production manuscript by Michael Sibbernsen that ran on http://www.allmagic.com awhile back. It inspired an idea or two for me when I read it.
Boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth? Boy: There is no spoon. Neo: There is no spoon? Boy: Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. |

Are the references to "Mark Wilson" meant to be "Gregory Wilson"? Gregory has a few business card items on his tapes and lots of impromptu stuff. I have Off the Cuff and it has an effect where a signed business card is "found" between two previously stapled cards - and it's stapled, too!
Not to water down this discussion, but is there any significant difference between the Mark Wilson tapes and his "Complete" course in hardback? |

No, the references to Mark Wilson are correct. Gregory has some stuff, too. I don't have the Mark videos, but have heard that they have a lot of the stuff from the course, as well as some things that aren't in the course.

very simple, but very diabolical: Himber Wallet for turning his/her card, into your card.

Use the haunted pack principle, but with business cards. Use card wallet as attachment. Works for one or two cards before being reloaded.
Otherwise, show both sides blank and then reveal the printed side after pretending to print the details. Use a Z-Fold wallet to switch anything for business cards. Back Palm a card and then pluck it out of the air. Just a few thoughts. Mike

Hi Calum,
Jon Jensen has a great booklet called, 'Business Card Miracles' with 13 routines in. 'Stockholder' has 20 effects in it with about another 20 ideas in the last chapter. This booklet alone is worth it's weight in gold. Mark Wilson's 'Business Card Magic' video has about 10 superb effects on it. Mark Strivings has created the ultimate business card case called the 'Sight Unseen Case'. Along with his manuscript, 'The Unseen Edition', which has about 10 killer effects in it, you have the most diabolical business card effects ever created. All of these materials will give anyone enough routines to do about a 3 hour show with their business card. Although I wouldn't recommend that of course. One good effect is usually enough. Happy hunting!

I've been working with Peter Marucci's (who's a member of this forum) latest offering from "Visions" online magazine.
It's based on the 7 deadly sins, it's simple and it has worked extremely well for me. And the point is all you need is 7 business cards and a pen! Check it out and use it. Andrew |

You can easily do some "printing" effects with "business card stickers" on Blanko cards. Use the Elmsley count to show cards to be blank and print the cards or "copy" one card to all of the Blanko cards or use a Hhimber wallet... just some ideas
(Roberto Giobbi has a routine in one of his lecture notes .. some years ago) schoenen Tag Martin

The Giobbi routine is on his new video too. It's a Wild Card routine with business cards and stickers. The rest of the tape is a great lesson in structuring a routine and presentation.

As an avid Tenyo collector, I can recommend "Tricky Business" as one of the few of their effects which is strong and commercial.
It is a very clean/invisible switching device for a blank card to your business card. Very clever!! |

Here's a good one,
If you are familiar with Bruce Cervon's Black and White Trick then just make the connection. If you are not familiar with the trick.......become familiar with it. It's an oil and water routine, perfect for business cards, ultra clean, and is a full performance piece. Not just a trick. You might have to dig to find a copy but if you find it I'm sure you'll agree. Take care, Dorian Rhodell |

A great trick to do with business cards is Paul Harris' Flash Fold. If you're not familiar with the effect, basically, a signed business card instantly vanishes and reappears folded inside a matchbox.
