Funnily enough Sonny Fontana e-mailed me very recently. Yes I had heard he was developing some invisiblity stuff and he sent me a link which looked cool! I worked on the original stage version of 'The Invisible Man' at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, London in 1991. The play based on HG Wells was adapted and directed by Ken Hill who is best known for doing the original musical of Phantom Of The Opera (the one which 'inspired' Lloyd Webber's version. I worked on 5 versions in total with Ken and eventually it went in to the West End on London in Feb 1993 and went out on national tour. In 1997/98 a US producer acquired the rights to this version and Jim Steinmeyer advised on it. It played at the Cleveland Playhouse and starred Jim Dale. The history of this show and its incarnations is quite an interesting and involved one, as I was also involved with a Walt Disney Theatrical Productions version around 1997/98 which (perhaps appropriately) never materialised. BTW a couple of other queries on 'Blind Spot' illusion - it was built for the assistant in the clip, not for a shorter assistant. And it can be done live as it is with the right lighting and in a controlled theatre enviroment.

Paul: Sonny Fontana is one of the most creative magicians you will ever meet. I have stayed in his house when he lived in Vegas. He is a great guy.
Thanks, Reynold |
