Hello, all

I ask for advice about lighting for a show. Do any of you have a recommendation for the source of lighting for a small show or cabaret show? I have looked at photography lighting and this seems to fit the need. However, I ask the experts about lighting, source, and type to buy.

I have performed shows where a good lighting source for the performing area would have been a great asset for me and the audience.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Are you lighting a small platform at a fire hall, lighting for video, or lighting a high school stage? How portable, and do you need them to dim?

THanks

There are lots of choices lighting. Like Mystic master said. What kind of an area are you going to light.
I would not recomend photo lighting. just for the fact that you can not adjust the light levels, most photo lighting does not offer any way to use gels.
Some places may not have an electrical service that can handle stage lighting.
Light is not a simple matter of putting up a few lights on a stage. on a large stage you may hav to run about 6,000 watts of light, and that would just be for basic stage. This would not cover special lighting such as color washes.
You should get some feedback from a stage light pro. Look in you phone book for stage lighting companies. your other option would be to take a class on stage lighting, you my check with the colleges in your area.
