Here is my take on the Phoenix aces, and inspired by Asher's Thunderbird, however it is much different so check it out...

Very clean. I particularly like the change midway through before the production of the third and fourth aces.

Has anyone seen a routine similar to this before, as I want to verify if its mine or someone else has made up a similar routine?
Thanks, Oz |

Not completely the same, but it is similar to Asher's "Thunderbird"..
I thought you were doing Thunderbird when I saw the first 2 productions (Tenkai, splitting the first ace..) But from that point on it's completely different. I especially like the last revelation where you flip the 3rd ace over as a misdirection to spread out the fan in your hand to produce the 4th one. Great stuff my friend.

Yeah it seems like it is a mix between Asher's Thunderbird (first 2 Phases) and Aaron Fisher's 4 Card Revelation (last 2 Phases). Check out Aaron's book or his recent contributions to Genii Magazine to see his revelation. I do like the color changes in between though.

I purchased this last night and really like it. It's very visual and will take some concerted practice, but well worth it! Thanks Oz.

Shows some nice flourishiy skill.
However, I found it a little confusing. It is difficult to tell what is happening because each of the moves is different, and some of them sort of step on each other. This does not allow the audience time to anticipate what is coming, and lessens the impact of each production. The original Phoenix Aces is much stronger magic in my opinion. All four productions are identical in appearance with both hands shown completely empty on both sides between each production, and the last one is made stronger by the hand washing move. The audience watches closer and closer and are more amazed with each appearance. I think the much underused "principle of multiplicity" makes the original a superior piece of magic, and your version doesn't make enough use of this powerful principle. |

Seems as though there is a new Starry Eyed Surprise.
This isn't the one I originally saw on their site. The original was better IMO. |

The new one doesn't seem as visual.

Your starry eyed surprise is always a nice demonstration of skill. I bough the first one and the following from penguin magic. takes a bit time to practice to get it down but when you see the peoples faces after that its worth every hour you payed for practicing it. ;D
