Any thoughts on this? I think it's a fraud, they may be using a hidden heat source or even a microwave source. |

Funny to see these videos. Here is one I made two years ago of a similar phenomenon (sans the cell phones).
First one to PM me the correct method will win a brand new, shrink wrapped, Carlyle Touch DVD. Michael http://homepage.mac.com/magicshow/popcorn.mov |

It shurely is a Viral Marketing Campaing.
It is on top of the Viral Video Chart http://www.viralvideochart.com/youtube/v......yIFu4yY8 As HollyMental posted, the makers admited this is a hoax, but I'm shure there's NO VIDEO EDITING! It's briliantly clever, and a different method than the one posted by MichaelSibbernsen. I think it uses a hidden microwave source or hidden heat source. |

I like this better...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6Xv9WE_KRE&NR=1 A friend of mine who works in a factory has a hand held laser pointer that will do this. The laser pointer is used to easily cut the wire off of shipped bundles. He said it takes about 2 seconds for the popcorn to pop once hit with laser. And there is no visible light. You have to wear special glasses when using it to see the line of light. Anyway, his guess is that they are using one of these lasers. These are your next forms of weapons on the streets. About as close to a light sabre as you'll get. The laser will also shatter glass and easily start fires. |

Congratulations to Brent Braun who hit the nail on the head regarding my own popcorn video.
I received a number of creative guesses, but Brent wins the prize. Michael |

I don't believe anyone thought this was genuine. There are too many reasons why it wouldn't actually work.
But that doesn't keep people with no scientific background from believing this kind of thing. My all-time favorite is this one: http://www.snopes.com/religion/wellhell.asp
