Any thoughts on this? I think it's a fraud, they may be using a hidden heat source or even a microwave source. |

This is BRILLIANT! I want to try it. I think I'll try it next week in one of my classes.
Unless of course everyone debunks it tonight. I hope you don't. I hope it's real. What GREAT FUN! |

It's fake.
Mythbusters disproved this one awhile ago. You're right; it's a hidden heat or microwave source. But there's probably a simpler way to pull off this effect using magic principles.

Worse yet, according to Snopes, the popcorn variant of this isn't even a prank, its a marketing campaign by a headset manufacturer. http://www.snopes.com/science/cookegg.asp

Well, I tried to put the cellphone in the microwave for 30 minutes, an it melted! What I did wrong?
Anybody has tried to make the cellphone explode with a popcorn?

May be you can shoot the popcorn with a catapult direct to the cellphone. I am sure Mythbusters will do that some day...

This is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Do not try this unless you really (REALLY!) know what you are doing!

I only was joking about the microwave. And I see that someone actually does it. I see the reality is more strong than the fiction. I will never to try it.

Unshielded microwaves from your table? What could possible go wrong?
"Make your friends go crazy..." I'd say. Especially if your boil their hearts. Ok BRB - just off to take the Magnetron from the oven...
