Here are some ideas that might help.
Rose from Card: http://www.murphysmagic.com/s.nl/it.A/id.7360/.f Rose Magic Monty, DVD: http://www.murphysmagic.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1224/.f Just go to http://www.murphysmagic.com and type rose in the search engine and you’ll find a few effects that might fit the bill. However I will point out that many productions of a flower ie: Appearing Rose: http://www.murphysmagic.com/s.nl/it.A/id.122/.f do depend on gimmicked flowers (because of there production quality) so I’m guessing that your wonting to produce a real one. My first two recommending effects then should fit the bill. Magically Aus |

I've found that gimmicked flowers produced by magic impress - it's really the thought that counts. And they last forever, compared to only a couple of days for a real rose.
Keep your eye on the web. Over the New Year David Ginn was selling "appearing roses" for about $5 on e-bay. This was cheaper than real roses here which were $7+ He's still got sleeve bouquets. http://www.ginnmagic.com There are also endless rose and colour changing rose tricks on http://www.practical-magic.com with videos. Have a look then maybe find a supplier closer to home.

"Flower Power" from The Wizards' Journal #14 shows how to convert many of the old classic flower effects that used to be done with spring flowers or feather flowers into a new effect that uses either realistic silk flowers or the real thing. It's on my site: http://www.magicnook.com/WizJ14/WIZ14-10FlowerPower.htm

David Stone has a nice production of flower using flash
It's in Real Secret of Magic DVD volume 1 (if I'm not mistaken) David had some nice tips on it |

See if you can find the instructions to twsit a table napkin into a rose. Not really magical, but has a great "AHHH!!" factor. And can be done at our favorite restaraunt when magic stuff isn't practical.

Floating Rose. You float a paper shaped rose. If you want to take if farther, it can change to a real rose.
