Hey Folks
I know there's been some interest in these little buggers on a few threads. I just received 30 Kangaroo pennies from a guy in Australia and I'm quite happy with them . Just thought I'd share my source with y'all! He sells them on ebay by the 30 and 40 stack (Around $30 + shipping). Each stack is the same year which is kind of nice. I got 1951's with King George on the tails side. Currently he still has some for sale if anyone's interested. Here are the links: http://cgi.ebay.com/40-AUSTRALIAN-KANGAR......ViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/40-AUSTRALIAN-GEORGE......53.l1262 http://cgi.ebay.com/40-AUSTRALIAN-QUEEN-......53.l1262 Now if I could only get through to Mr. Lassen.......LOL Enjoy! |

They are the same size as an English penny. That's why I like them,
they're a nice replacement for Copper/Silver routines if yer looking for an alternative to the English penny and they look cute as all hell with the big kangaroo on the front. Presentation-wise they open up many possibilities (coins 'hopping' from here to there etc). Now that I see them up close I much prefer them to the English penny for sure! |

Nice find. I'm going to have to track some of those down. Definitely a nice change...no pun intended.

I can usually pick em up from a local coin dealer for .25 to .40 each! I also like the East African dime but I've had a hard time finding them lately!

Over the years I've picked up a few Penny variants, two other favorites are
New Zealand Pennies - a bird on the back, and South African pennies with a ship. |

These have been my coin of choice for a while now. They are pretty much the same diameter as a New Zealand 50c piece, which makes for nice Spellbound possibilites.

I have also been using the Australian Pennies for a number of years. You might also look into the Australian half pennies which are about the size of a quarter. I have a routine that I do for kids and families that involve the mom and dad kangaroo coins ending up with the family of little kangaroos. I find these coins fun to work with and they are real attention getters for the audience, especially kids.
