I saw the ad in magic magazine and I thought about submitting something, but I haven't because there aren't any video submission guidelines. I love the idea, and it would be an honor to share the stage with the cast, but the contest seems a little vague.

Exactly my thought... There are really no guidelines at all... should be interesting to see what ends up happening

I wonder if they actually have gotten any submissions. With a fee to submit and no schedule of performances it seems a little odd.

Tony Clark is a legit producer. If you have a clip of any kind send it. They can tell if you "have it".

Tony's a great guy. The prize is great, and cheap to enter.

There is not a submission fee. The Pay-Per-View broadcast is what costs $9.95. The site clearly says "No Submission Fee". However, I have to say, the prize really isn't that spectacular. $1000 just isn't a lot of money. I would lose money just transporting my show.
It's all in the reflexes.

Okay, wait a second. I just clicked on the "No submission fee" and discovered that to submit your video you must first purchase the pay-per-view event for $9.95. This now absolutely reeks of a scam. Is that kind of deception really necessary?
Generally, in the entertainment world, if money is being asked for up front, something is dodgey. And this looks very dodgey.
It's all in the reflexes.

There was a submission fee yesterday, on top of the pay-per-view fee. It seemed to vanish today.

And the date has changed. My bet is there's been very little interest.

Yes it clearly says No Submission Fee! Then when you click on the link, You must pay $9.95 before you submit. But the money is for your registration, not the submission. I guess you cannot submit without being registered. Sounds like a scam.

It was supposed to be on june 28th it now says July 28th, I pay for the event an I haven got any information. I don't think it is scam but who ever is in charge is not doing a great job.

Hey guys just got this email.
Hello, We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that due to the struggling economy we are going to be postponing the Vegas Magic Star contest and show until a later date. You will be notified when dates are confirmed for the next event so that you can upload your videos and purchase tickets for the live event online. To those who have paid for their tickets and/or video submissions, you will be issued a refund via whatever payment method was used during your checkout process. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at support@vegasmagicstar.com. Thank You, Vegas Magic Star Admin |

“due to the struggling economy”
Do you think there’s a chance all Las Vegas may have to shut down??? Or, maybe it was this one “struggling” venture? Curious minds want to know… Walt |

Kind of seems to me that there wasn't much of a promotional budget for this venture. True there were some magazine ads (which aren't cheap), but the whole thing never developed any kind of viral buzz. I imagine that when the concept was first discussed, the producers felt that there would be no shortage of wannabes submitting their homemade basement videos of bad dove productions, etc., all dreaming of their 1st big Vegas break.
What did happen - was nothing. No buzz, no discussion - good, bad or indifferent. Not real good for a "competition" with a pay-per-view fee. I would imagine that these people will regroup and try again. It sounds like a really good idea. My 2¢ Chris |
