My favorite is the old chameleon silks. It's a thru the fist double color change with three silks. I did this one at my initiation at ring 103 in 1972, and the magic shop owner sold 10 of these right afterwards.

Hello, we have always liked the Mr and Mrs Green silk routine whereby Jimmy Green meets Jackie Brown - they get wed and become Mr and Mrs Green - then they have a whole lot of little Greens! It can be worked with a 2 or 3 compartment Change Bag to include bridesmaids and confetti, or props. like the Supreme Dragon Chest. There was even a little church made for use with this trick, although of course there are so many Jewish, Muslim, Hindhu kids etc. at parties that not always appropriate. Now I'm cheating really here as I have not worked out how to post a new topic yet and I wondered if any of you know someone who markets a nice version of this these days. Our previous ones were from Edwin at Supreme so starting to look at bit tatty now! - Tony and Sue.

Hi Tony and Sue,
In answer to your question, Mr. and Mrs. Green, aka Meet the Missus, has been and is currently available at Silk King Studios. In this version Mr. Green marries Miss White. (A green silk marries a white silk). This effect originated in England. You may wish to visit the website at http://www.silkkingmagic.com for more information on the item. Hope this information is helpful. Ruth |

*Production of silk.
*Silk dream (my version of misers dream using the silk to produce all the coins) *Eclipse. *Sympathetic silks. *Torn and restored silk. *Silk fountain. Ending with a vanish of all the silks. This is one of my sets performed to music, works great and still packs really small. Michael MacDonald |

I like
1. the silk production (tt) and 2. silk from cube (I think it is in one of Tarbell's volumes - you show the book "Do it yourself magic", you cut one of the cubes showing, you fold it to form the cube and you produce a silk from it)

I like Bill Malone doing the Slydini Silks in Vol.1 'On the Loose'. He does a great job of it. Well worth learning.

For the past year, I have been featuring the Sympathetic Silks as a (serious) magic interlude in the middle of my comedy magic act. The trick gets a tremendous reaction everytime and I highly recommend it. The trick is a real fooler! For example, a year later I still have musicians, spotlight operators, stagehands, sound and light men who have seen the trick dozens of times. And they still ask me how it works. It packs flat and can still be seen easily seen in the showrooms I work (1300 seat). There are versions in dozens of books. But, a good starting point would be the Slydini books for the knot tying techniques. "Rice's Encyclopedia of SIlk Magic Volume Three" for a lot of different versions. And "Charlie Miller's Knot Control" from Magic, Inc. (Chicago) for a few hints that you will find invaluable. Good Luck!!

David,
I am with you. Half-Dyed Hank is the GREATEST. (OF course, that's probably because Billy McComb is the greatest!) I would also add that Eric Lewis's Diminishing Silk production is something I find very entertaining -- kind of like a silk fountain, but more magical and whimsical. To MagicTom, Sympathetic Silks can be done with any size silk (within reason). Also Ron Fredrick uses a full size silk scarf in his Babushka Routine. This is an opening close up routine featuring a number of dissolving knots and penetrations that seems to be much more interesting when done with a silk scarf than when done with rope. |

I use silks in my stage act. I like the fountain of silks but what I don't like is the ending a lot of magicians use. They just end. I think you should produce something from the fountain like a bird, a dog, or your SUV, just produce something. Those are my thoughts.

I think it's hard to beat any kind of animation of a silk for over all impact.

I like a number of silk effects.
1. Mismade flag, done tastefully 2. 20th Century 3. Half-dyed 4. Pavel's knots off silk, if done superbly like he does it quack |

Is silk fountain the same as a silk ribbon fountain?
I used to do that. I thought it looked very magical. I remember when I saw someone else doing it I thought it must be powered or something. Don't know why I stopped doing it. I think I might've got sick of ironing it. |
