Hi Bernard!
Good question! I use the mini dime coin in my eleven cent trick. Spectator holds 11 cents in hand, gives it a squeeze per the performers request, performer comments that spectator may have squeezed too hard and requests spectator to open his/her hand....Lo and behold the dime has shrunk to a mini...This is great for kids as you can comment they were probably a little strong for the trick! Just a little help I hope! Sincerely, Steve Landavazo

I use them like Steve does, only I tell them to squeeze as hard as they can & the dime will disappear. When they open their hand, I tell them they didn’t squeeze hard enough to make it totally vanish (some people actually apologize for this)
I forgot to mention that I am teaching my pet mouse to do a misers dream routine using the mini coins. T. Nelson Mouse looks so cute in his little tuxedo, I forgive him for flashing & dropping coins. |

Bernard!
If memory serves me correct, "Steven's Magic Emporium" used to have a book available for mini coins! If you're interested, just e-mail me and I'll send it! Happy Magic! Steve Landavazo

Ickle Pickle [314-434-3630] sells the mini-dimes (and many other miniature coins) and I build a special dropper for such coins. It's a little smaller than a business card, less than 1/4 inch thick and holds twelve mini-coins. It has a built-in safety pin to attach inside your coat or trouser pocket and is actuated by pressing a small lever with your thumb while your fingers catch the coin(s) - which are released one at a time (one push = one coin).
Regards, Thomas Wayne

There is a great routine for the coin in bottle created by Marco Duca. He performs (and teaches) it on his lecture video that he made for International Magic (www.internationalmagic.com). The routine uses the normal method, but he talks about two possible methods for getting a coin into the bottle...the first to shrink the coin (using mini coin, just drops it in), the second by magic...
He also finishes the routine by showing that actually the lid has been on the bottle for the entire routine! This is a brilliant piece of magic. owen |

Check out David Roth's routine "The Funnel" in Expert Coin Magic. Three half dollars are pushed through a funnel into a tiny bottle. As they pass through the funnel and end up in the bottle they have been squashed into mini coins.

Check out "Matrix ReBorn" out of my book "Matrix God's Way" or my performance in Steven's Magic Emporium video Coin Classics. It is a performance of shadow coins in which at the end the coins visually change. In my book it explains how to visually change the coins into miniature coins.

The Ickle Pickle Nickel and the Ickle Pickle Split 5 cent trick are two routines that I do quite often, using mini-coins. Kids especially love these tricks. Looking at those routines, as well as the many possibilities using shells, should give you more than a few ideas.

I like to use them for Roth's hanging coins... I don't flash as much this way!

They could be a different ending for a miser's dream. Not only one mini coin of course but a bunch of them.

Irv Cook used to sell a cute, simple routine using 2 regular pennies. "Momma Penny" and "Poppa Penny". Place the 2 in your hand and say something like, "Momma and Poppa Penny first got together some time ago and fell in love right away. They really liked to fool around back then, and do you know what happened as the months passed by?" "Why this did!"
Open your hand and now show momma, poppa, and 4 or 5 mini pennies which are supposed to be their babies! Don't remember if his routine used the gimmick penny to bring in the mini's or if it was just sleight of hand. That wasn't his actual patter either but just something to go by. Cute little simple effect. I don't remember the actual name of the trick. Matt |

I use mine for a version of Greg Wilson's "Dishonest Abe." At the end, the jumbo penny shrinks to a super small one. I stick it to my business card and give it to the spectator.
