So... How is everyone coming along with this?
I'm actually doing really great at it!! Silent and invisible. I just need to work on keeping the cards square a little more. Tim

I can not keep the right index finger from helping to displace the deck so that the card can move aroud it.

I am also working on keeping the cards square, and it's coming along great for me. Now I'm mostly just working on speed.
I am nowhere near ready to do the 26 Shift, therefore 3 out of the 7 effects are the only ones I can currently work on. (Criterion, Rum Jungle, Tricycle).

I'm still working on the speed a little too. But I don't think it will be a problem after some more practice.
I'm actually working on incorporating this into my ambitious card routine. Actually I've worked out a whole different routine than what I usually do. In the new routine, You give the pack a shake and the card always comes to the top. That way, No matter what the method is for that particular phase, It has a sense of contiguity throughout the routine. When you DO do the shift, It runs together with everything else. Glad to hear you guys are having fun with the clip shift. Tim

Yeah I had been struggling with making the move silent for a long while before it just clicked (haha bad pun). Now, I'm working on making the move nice and smooth before I get it up to the speed I need.

I am making good progress. Its only silent about 50% of the time but I figured out why it was doing that and I'm just trying to force myself to break a bad habit.
I popped the DVD in again today and decided to toy with some of the palms and the 26 shift to see how they would feel after working on the clip shift for awhile. I think they feel much, much easier now that I have put time into the clip shift. I especially thought that the 26 shift would be beyond me but I was pleasantly surprised by my progress. All in all, I don't think this move is beyond anyones reach. I think its the fine points and polish that will frustrate most people. In my opinion, those are worth striving for in ALL magical endeavors though. I have quite a few raw ideas for the utility moves on this DVD. So far all of the ideas are to modify card routines that I already use or want to use but never have. I am nowhere near being ready to road test any of these ideas though. If/when I get around to testing them I will give details and results. I am not disappointed in this purchase. JS |

His collectors effect is my favourite on the DVD by far... so beautifully constructed and very visual.

The other thing that helped my learning was to take fairly regular screenshots from the repeated demos, line them up into a grid, and compare it to my own positions step-by-step. The alignment of the card with respect to your palm was a biggie for me. How's everyone else's shift coming along? |

I practice it fairly often. Still makes a pesky noise though!

I love this sleight. I've been practicing it since it was released, and only now am I making some significant progress with it. The problem was aligning the card perfectly, but now I'm able to hit it about 60% of the time. I will probably still need to work on getting the noise level down after that though. Maybe after another 3 months of practice...

Here's a little tip that will help a lot with eliminating the noise factor and making the move smooth, for those who have read the booklet or have been to one of Chad's appearances at Tannens or The Marc DeSouza Theater, you probably noticed the use of an Omni Deck for explanation purposes, practice the move using an Omni Deck for a good 2 weeks, then try it with a normal deck, this will help a lot to get a good clipshift. Also, you might want to rewatch Chad doing the Clipshift over and over again until you COPLETELY understand EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of the move.
Hope this helps, SP |

Good that someone brought this thread back. Now that half a year has passed, does anyone have a silent, perfectly aligned clip-shift down? I've been practicing a few hundred times a day for the past few months (scary coming to think of it), am stuck (with a flash) and would love to touch base with CardGuys who have this down.

*ouch*
Have managed to get it silent at last. When done slowly everything works perfect, even the alignment. But... When done up to speed, the top card (under the shifted card) gets leftjogged. Anyone has any tips on handling this?
