I am really having fun keeping up with all the new events at this years Get Together. Greg and Hank have put together an awesome lineup as usual but this year I would like to start with the new things you are going to see in Colon (Scroll down a bit for the traditional Get Together schedule).
-Best Decorated Car Contest for registrants, offset the price of gas and use your vehicle to make money rather than burn gas, open to all Get Together registrants. Can be your professional car or make one up ala high school, as long as it is magic based and you are registered (You can register at Abbotts via phone, in person, or online) -Live Feeds and Broadcast from the Magic Capital, SOC (Street of Cards) will be broadcasting live from Clancys so now you will be able to have a cold soda/pop/beer in an air conditioned enviroment and watch yourself live on the internet (and also on Clancy's Big Screen TV). -Construction has begun on Colon's Community Park which will be a magical park like no other in the world. This will be in addition to Colon's other parks, nothing is being subtracted! -There will be public showings of several magic movies including "Women in Boxes". One viewing will be during the day and another during the evening, stay posted for date and times. Again thanks to SOC (Street of Cards) for putting that together. -A third Magic Shop in Colon? John Sterlini is working hard and will have his shop/theatre open for the Get Together. He may not be selling retail yet but invites everyone to stop in and say hello and check the new shop out. -The launching of "Magic Capital of the World" website, a joint project which will help promote magic websites across the globe! -4 new dealers (Joe Stevens, David Ginn, Domenico Dante, & Pavel) which will make about a dozen dealers in the Show Room. I would make a minor correction.. All four "new dealers" have dealt at Abbott's before. But they are not the annual dealers that come but are certainly most welcome.
BTW This is a BYOF party (Bring your own Fan!). Richard

Looking forward to being there again! Last week, I extended my trip back home for IBM/SAM a little longer, just to be present...

Greetings. Thanks for mentioning our shop. In the 9 months I have owned this, we have made huge progress, unfortunately we will be nowhere near ready. However, we will open our doors to give a "preview" of what is to come. I will have stock and hopefully a decent supply of our original products, including our top selling "Ringo" available.
As I had promised, this will be a shop unlike any other, but that doesn't come overnight (or over 9 months!) In addition to the store, we are also building a 90 seat theater for performances, lectures and also video production. Currently, we are working on restoring the front of the building. The beautiful metal work of this 100 plus year old building had been covered by at least 6 - 8 coats of paint. Our black and gold "theme" really makes the outside look like a magic shop. What has been an eyesore for numerous years is really turning into quite a beautiful store front. This project is in some way my giving something to the local and magic community. I greatly appreciate all the support, encouragement and kind words. And yes, I even appreciate the locals who think I am nuts and can't believe someone is opening another magic shop (sometimes I lie and tell 'em it's going to be a small porn theater, adult novelty store or I'm just the hired help and don't know anything!). Anyway, they make me work harder. I am very excited about the change in Colon, there are some dedicated people in this community who are want to make this town magical once again. Ultimately, we will all benefit from this, especially the new generation of "Magic Week" attenders. Please be sure to stop in and say hello on your way to "the world famous" M & M Grill! I look forward to seeing you in August John |

Be forewarned, there is construction in Colon, the bridge is being replaced and is down to one lane. It is so unusual to wait for traffic in Colon, it has been hard to get used to. So other than an obstructed Colon, it should be all good in August!
Can't wait to introduce everybody to my new daughter! We will see you soon! BJ Mallen |

We certainly welcome John and Sterlini Magic...John is a good guy and they are a welcome addition to Colon! He and his family are committed to becoming an active part in this great village. For once and for all the title MAGIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD applies only to Colon - no where else in the world! The excitement is building and the phone is ringing non - stop. Everyone is working hard to rebuild the tradition and we can see it just over the horizon. So come experience the magic that is Colon Michigan.......you won't believe your eyes! See you all in August!

I have to admit I am a little suspicious of Mr. Hughes and Mr. Holstein's motives when they invite me to videotape behind the scenes at Abbotts Get Together the same day that Tara the Tiger is visiting!

I never invited you backstage that was Mark. Not that it matters but I just don't think guys are going to find the backstage stuff that entertaining. Watching a bunch of guys all hot and sweaty making a high school Gym into a stage is not my idea of entertainment.
As for Tara the tiger, don't eat fired chicken before coming to visit. She might think you are dessert! Richard

It will be a great video! The key is editing it down so that it's a quick but fun video. Hopefully I am there early enough to avoid the sweating.

I stopped by John Sterlini's shop during Abbott's 2008. He's a great guy and I am looking forward to seeing his work completed. From what I've seen so far it will be a state of the art place.
