I need some help here.
I've run into an unexpect snag in acquiring ESP cards. I can't seem to find any that come in the classic Rhine case box. I seem to remember it was blue and had "Rhine" and the symbols on the case. My last hope was Hank Lee. He advertised that he had the cards with the classic Rhine card back. They arrived today. Without the ()*^*)&%*&^$ box! Surely they still manufacture them. And yes, I have used the search function. |

You might try Denny & Lee's. http://www.dennymagic.com
That's where I obtained my last 2 sets with the box you describe. Good luck, James |

I did try them. They carry the Vernets You know, the ones that say "Vernet Magic . . . .A powerful tool for the mentalist." Might as well say "We're gaffed!!!!!"
Thank you though for responding. I'll keep trying. |

I see.... it has been a little while since I purchased my set from them. I just assumed he would still carry them.
You might look into the BeyondESP2 deck. It comes in a very basic box that doesn't scream "magic cards". The box is black, with the 5 symbols printed on it, and just underneath the symbols it says EXTRA SENSORY PERCEPTION TESTING CARDS. And at the very bottom of the box, in small print, it says INTERNATIONAL PARANORMAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Plus, they are very cleverly marked. Here is where it all started.
http://www.rhine.org/main.shtml The website says the following about their gift shop: "A gift shop is also located inside the Museum with tee-shirts, books on parapsychological and paranormal topics, postcards and notecards with historic Rhine Center photos and items to do your own research and testing including the world famous ESP/Zener cards." They have a phone # where you can call them to describe the cards they are currently selling. |

In my opinion, the Duke University ESP/Zener cards & box have more of an appearance of being gaffed (or "tricky looking") than the BeyondESP2 deck & box.
I have never had anyone 2nd guess the plain looking BeyondESP2 cards (which are marked), but I have had some folks take a closer look at the original Rhine cards (which are not marked, but have all the stars on them) wondering if there was some sort of hidden pattern. To laypeople, they just look "tricky". |

The original Rhine cards do have a one-way back.

And I noticed that the ones I just received from Hank Lee still - God bless 'em - have the one-way back. I think the reason for my obsession is two-fold. I saw Max Maven use the Rhine cards on dvd and I believe he pointed out something about the case design. I decided I must have them. Not a good reason, I admit. But there is something about the pack design that looks very fair and above board. And I really don't like the special velvet new-age bag/rubber band holders for ESP and Tarot cards. I like using something that appears to be what they originally were packaged in. |

LAst time I was at Hank's, I asked about Rhine cards in the little box. Guy told me they were no longer being packaged that way, and that even Duke didn't have any. They were now being sold in little ziploc baggies, much to my chargrin.
I remember buying some a few years ago that came in a much bigger box, but apparently those are gone, too. I love a good ESP card effect, and liked the box. Rory

I have a set of those original Rhine cards as shown on the Rhine site link above. The price (in pencil) on it reads $1.90. Ah, the good old days!
Haines made those cards; a couple of years ago I called Haines to see if they were still making them, and the answer was "no". By a strange coincidence - or is it? - I will be in Cincinnati today. I'll stop by Haines and see what the current status is.

I stopped by Haines when I was in Cincinnati today and showed them my (their) deck of ESP cards. They said they don't have any plans to make those again, but wouldn't rule it out permanently. They are stocking and selling the Vernet ESP cards at this point.

Maybe with the right template you could make your own case, printing on card stock. I have Jeff Pierce's Telepa-Three and am thinking of making a case for the cards.
Google around and a few templates may come up, like: http://www.ee0r.com/boxes/index.html

Dan, this may not fit what you are looking for but for others interested:
I carry my ESP cards in a snug black leather pouch that has ESP TESTING CARDS embossed on it with the symbols printed below that phrase. I carry Beyond ESP cards in there and it really does look quite sleek and official. I bought the pouch from Steve Dela via his website a couple of years ago. They were (I think) 5.00 USD apiece. Keep in mind, this was before the dollar equalled roughly half the Pound. I bought four of them. I have since given three away to close friends and still use the other one for myself. I don't know if Steve still has these available, but he is a member here so I'm sure one could PM him if necessarry. DT3 |

There is always the Evil Dan ESP Card Wallet
http://www.evildan.biz/leather/special%20items.htm But as an old fart, I have several of the Duke decks with boxes, that is what I use. Although, I have been using a clear plastic 2 part card box that used to come with children's card games (Old Maid, Animal Rummy, and the like). It has added benefits. |

The clear bicycle deck comes in a clear case and works perfect for my ESP cards.

I thought this topic had died. Thank you, gentleman all. Most excellent ideas. I will follow up on them since I use ESP cards almost as much as Tarot.
I did manage to score one of the old Rhine ESP cards on Ebay. Again, thank you all. D |
