Which actually is a 9 ring routine with a k*y r*ng reveal at the beginning, eliminating the k*y r**g and what-not at the beginning leading off into uttermost misdirection to say the least.
Someday soon it will be revealed!!! http://www.pbase.com/iangreyphotography/image/99264518 Soon!!! Imagine an ending that is not a strait-jacket or cups and balls!!!! Linking Rings...finally a real !@#$en street wise routine meant for big hats!!!

Great photo Johhny.
Nothing like a well taken and well processed black and white photo. Their stories are begging to be told. I never get that feeling from color photos. Ever.

Johnny, very very cool pic! If I had something like that of me, I'd blow it up and frame it. That would make a great promo pic

Whats really cool about that pic (other than I'm in it) is that it's going to be part of a gallery showing of some kind, the photographer Ian Grey has taken many neat pictures of our downtown area...most of which will be in his showing or whatever it's called, theres two pics of Johnny Mystic in his collection.
He'll be giving me both duplicates, big ones, like 15" by 25" or something. :)

That is not really cool.
It is VERY really cool. And you should be shot for having such fortune. I will start the petition to have you shot, killed, and then hung. Stand by for details...

Frank stop it...you're making me blush several shades of red, I love it when you stroke my ego baby!
Here's another pic for those of you less fortunate ones that haven't had the pleasure of viewing it before... http://www.pbase.com/iangreyphotography/image/96639456 The cap from the kids bottle of water vanished from my hand after he blew on it and re-appeared in the bottle of water he was holding, I'll never forget the look of surprise on his mothers face. :)

Great photos! I don't know if you have ever noticed, but every photo I've ever seen of you has caught you in a rare moment when your mouth was open. Congrats my friend, you've made it to the category of art. Tony |

I agree with everyone about the picture...it is an excellent shot that really catches a great moment in your performance. Perfect promo piece.
As for your routine, when you say you start with a k*y r*ng reveal I assume you openly display it, or expose it on "accident" and say you won't use it. Just my opinion but I don't agree with you exposing the gaff to the public and don't think it is necessary for a strong street routine. Or any routine. Of course, that is just my opinion and I'm sure yours is just as valid. And the only reason I brought any of this up is because something in your first post in this thread made me laugh: In the Magic Café, a magicians forum, you use * while typing out k*y r*ng in a message to magicians about exposing a k*y r*ng to non-magicians. The use of * in place of letters is usually done here so the secret is safe if a non-magician reads the post. This doesn't keep the secret safe if you actually display the k*y r*ng in a live show to non-magicians. |

Mitch,
I have a seven ring routine... A five ring routine... And an eight ring routine... The five ring routine is the best for the street (it's the simplest for them to follow) and does'nt included a k*y r*ng reveal...hahahahahahaha...you caught what I said but possibly didn't catch the in-joke...anyways...all three routines are very good for the street when used as an ender, the full eight ring routine is an act in it's-self and could carry a performer around the world. You'll make some cash in the hat I'll tell you that baby! Someday soon...

Great Photos-thanks for sharing
Unfortunately you also need to get crowd shots while your performing as your first pic could be for 1 person on a backstreet & your second pic could be in front of any shop with any kid-tells us nothing about the routine, the fun or the actual popularity of your shows or that your routine rocks as you stated-Im sure it did but the photos don't show that-thats all!! Cheers -Brent |

Brent, that's a good idea, capturing the crowd in a shot as well as the performer. About a week back I had a fire-show performer - whom I had taken some digital camera videos of a performance of his - tell me that when he watches a video of himself he is more interested in seeing the spectators than in seeing himself perform. Video-ing a performance allows for a swing-shot of the spectators from time to time. Taking still photographs of live action it is going to be a lot harder to do that.
The presentation makes the magic.

One thing I've been somewhat obsessed with is having the rings automatically reset-up at the end of the routine, making every move logical and using as little moves as possible has been my frustrating but happy pursuit, so by the end of the routines all rings are ready to be counted/shown unlinked and ready to go immediatly.
My 5, 6, and 8 ring routines end this way, instant reset...the 7 ring routine has been a pain in the harse, haven't quite fingered out a good count with 7 either. I love the freakin' Rinking Lings!!! ;)
