I love using IT but I hate the setup involved. I normally use one end anchored to a safety pin on the inside of the collar on my t shirt and the other end anchored to my belt buckle untill I need it. But 90% of the time I go to use the thread it broke from me walking and normal moving. I love the floating dollar effect, so that's what I use the thread for. Does anyone have a suggestion for a better hookup or way to carry the thread so when I am ready to do the effect I don't need to leave the room to get setup? I have the spiderpen and hate that thing!! Thanks in advanced.

HAHAHA!!! That brings back a memory! Anyone ever buy the MAJOKE Mag when it was out? There was an add in there from John (not really) called "The Jiggling Wad of Tissue."
Aghhhh...good times!

Nike, I know you are new to the Café,
please be aware this is a public forum that can be googled, and take more care in wording that may be method exposure to lay people. Thanks, Walt |

The best hook up method is the one you spend years perfecting.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

I've mostly used the L'Eclair hookup in the past with great results. Well I say mostly, it was the only one I would use in a show rather than for friends. I've recently started to experiment with Losanders hookup for IET. It seems to be more resilient to those little accidents which happen whilst doing other effects if you know what I mean...
It handles a lot like loops and many of the same effects are possible but it has more scope and "range". He explains it best in "the art of levitation vol.3" |

Perhaps anchoring to something you've already used, perhaps a card case or something of that sort that you can set on the table. Its bold but I have even heard tales of anchoring to things just before you perform (glasses, plates, etc).
I personally have never had trouble keeping the IT in my mouth like I was originally taught, and attaching it to something in my pocket |

If you are lucky enough to have purchased the new David Regal book he has some work on hookups. As well as a great use of IT in a transpo effect. I'm dieing to try this one out on the public.

Nike, if you are still around you might really enjoy looking into Sorcery's ITRs. They seem much better options than the Spider Pen -at least that is what my research has led me to believe.
You could also look into Loops. Since this post came out there have also been Steve Fearsons IT Bullets. If you're tired of fidling with safety pins and other IT difficulties, a bullet seems like it would meet all of your needs. I brought this thread (ha) back to life in the hopes that you hadn't given up on IT all together. In case you have, look into the latest and greatest options! Your post count leads me to believe you're still here. I'm still getting into IT myself so perhaps you could let me know if you've in fact excelled in the last few years and what advice you might have learned. Take care |
