My Cut and Restored Rope routine transitions into Professor's Nightmare (similar to Paul Green's "The Rope Routine" on In the Trenches). Since I saw it, I've wondered how many other people's C&R Rope Routines transition into the well loved classic.
My routine has the Cut and Restored as a training session with my "substitue lovely assistant" (my regular assistant has been 'beside herself' since an accident performing the Sawing a Lady illusion - so she's not here today). When he finally understands how to cut rope evenly, I tell him about the rope's psychological issues (Professor's Nightmare). Each piece has a personality, and if you cut it into multiple pieces it has Schizophrenia (cheap laugh). In our case, the short rope has a Napoleon Complex, the long rope is narcissistic (he thinks "too much" of himself), and the middle rope is terrified of conflict (so he's always in the middle). I like my patter well enough, but I like to know what everyone else is doing.

That's good stuff.
"A normal piece of rope, like'd you'd find in any bedroom. . . what?" Priceless

I love his character and the way that he maintains it during the "stupid question". Very entertaining patter and magic.
