I was passing by my local magic store on Sat and got talking to the magician that works there. He was telling me about a new limited edition closup peek device that is being sold by someone in Sweden. He said it was called Spider, ideal for closeup, and provided an instant peek. But get this, he said as long as you don't allow people to check your pockets (!), you are completely clean, ie the gimmick is in your pocket??? Any pad and pen can be used. Completely new method. He had already purchased the gimmick and said it wasn't cheap, but didn't feel it right to spread the knowledge without the creators consent.
Anyone got any info or know where I can get in contact with this dealer/person (I was told his name, but it's slipped my mind) - because this sounds too good to be true? Andrew |

Hi there Andrew!
I guess I can answer your questions, since Im the inventor of SPYDER, easily confused with the word Spider And no it's not TOO good to be true, this is an item I've spent these last years developing. For those who know me, I've been obsessed with drawing duplications for ages and Im currently in the process of writing a booklet on the subject too. And yes, it is quite expensive... But think about it, what you said is pretty accurate. You can use any pen and any pad at any time, as long as you carry the Spyder gimmick with you. And you simply put it in the pocket, preferably jacket pocket and you're set to perform the cleanest drawing dup ever. The guy you spoke to was right, it's a limited edition. I just wanted to share it with a few people around the globe, it was purchased directly through me. There's 40 copies out there and unfortunately for you that didn't have a chance to get one, there won't be any re-release for another couple of years. Sorry, but I want to keep it that exclusive. I hope I answer all your questions Andrew. Sincerly, Daniel Young

Daniel is an old frend of mine, although we live about 800 km from each other. I can vouch for the effect of this. I have seen it performed once (by Daniel). He repeated it 4 times, and I hadn't got the slightest clue as to how he did it! He told me it was a gimmick in his pocket, and I said: "But you didn't touch your pocket, or anything like that!" He just smiled... He did it once more, and sure, he did not touch it, or look at it, or anything, he looked me straight in my eyes all the time, and did the dupe... sigh!
The good thing for me was I got to see a totally fantastic effect. The bad thing was he refused to show me what was inside his pocket. And the last one had been sold only a week before. Talk about Murphy's law... Mikael |

Thanks for the info, Daniel
Please let me know if any more "Spyders" will be made in the near future and stick me on the waiting list (if there is one) Regards Andrew |
