This was posted in the Good News section, but I thought y'all would enjoy seeing it here as well. Check out this final load. How does he do this? Actually don't tell me, I know it's magic...

Excellent routine, besides the script being in line with waht he is doing, I really like the routine.

I agree. He does a great routine that goes hand-in-hand with his patter. This is the kind of response we like from an crowd. Very well done. Thanks for posting.

This basically Paul Gertner's routine from Steel and Silver. Get Paul's DVD and see it done right.
The message notwithstanding, when you do message magic, be it Gospel, Bizarre or whatever, you should not break up the story line with the technique lines.

Since I was the one who posted the Gospel routine put to Paul's Steel Cups and Balls, I'll include the link for his performance on YouTube for those of you who haven't seen it.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy a good "message" presentation. There are techniques to make messages strong.
Andre Kole knows how to do this.

Good call by Paul. The message and all got things rather rushed.

I had the honour of attending a restaurant and had Mr. Gertner perform his steel cups and balls at my table. If you want to learn the routine, his book Steel and Silver book teaches it thoroughly. I got all the necessary ball bearings off of ebay. It's a really cool routine that universally fries magicians and laypeople alike.

It's all good except from 2:20 to 3:28 where you do the "explanation" phase. I think that's what Bill was talking about when he mentioned mixing technique patter with gospel patter. There's a lot of stuff in the book you're working from: deception, deceit, evil thoughts, and so on. It may not be John 15:5 but it's in there somewhere. Work on your story through that part and you'll have it made.
No trees were killed in the making of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

That's exactly what I was referring to.
As an example. One of my signature pieces is my version of the Anderson Newspaper Tear. When I'm performing this in a show, I do a lot of the explanatory type patter, such as the bits about the separate pieces, etc. When I do a trade show, I talk about separating things into their smallest parts, discovering problems and putting things together rapidly.

What kind of cups is Paul Gertner using. They look familiar.

Paul Gertner used Paul Fox cups for a very long time. He recently changed over to van Dokkum brass jumbo cups.

Bill. I think I was bidding against you for those Paul Fox Cups. That was a waste of time.

Which kind are featured in the clip? Are those the Paul Fox?
Thanks Bill. |

I believe so. The clip is fairly blurry, but in the close-up shots you can see the typical Paul Fox double bead.
