I stand corrected on a mistaken assumption. Thank you for advancing my knowledge of magic history!
For the sake of clarity, the discussion that Rick and I had was not pertaining to where the event(s) have been held, but rather that fact that such forms of community/area outreach must surely be beneficial.

I would agree except for two things, the event is at the same time as a Colon event and its on the last day. If it were earlier in the week perhaps.
I should also mention that the site ColonMI.com (which I reference above) was created at the request of Mr. Bordner in his role as Chamber of Commerce President to promote all Colon events. If anyone is interested. 1953 Three Rivers 1955 Sturgis 1956 Battle Creek 1957 Niles 1958 Niles |

Rick,
I just wanted to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed the Dick Stoner lecture on Saturday. I also enjoyed spending money in your shop...the staff (especially Michael and yourself) was very helpful, friendly and added to my "Magic Week" experience. I am already excited about next year and what you will be offering! Alan |

OK ...who wants to sit in time-out first? ....can we all act like grown up people and get along now!
I go to Colon and sometimes I go to ABBOTT'S and Rick doesn't know I'm in town and other times I go to FAB and not to ABBOTT'S and you know what....it's my money to spend where I want to take it. I love the close up convention that ABBOTT'S have every year and have been to at least ten August get-togethers and I performed in the first FAB magic week tent show, also had a great time. fighting will make people go away! BTW I was at the gas station by Abbotts and they didn't say anything bad about the other one in town. also I hope Greg is doing well. Mark |

Who said anything bad?
Last October Mr Bordner asked me to promote Ricks October event on the front page of Abbotts website. Despite bad weather the event was a huge success for Fab, the city of Colon, and Abbotts enjoyed a great day as well. Not one word was said about that anywhere on this board. I just wanted to point out that the dates are set first by Abbotts and when you schedule your times on those dates there are bound to be conflicts. Colon has turned a huge corner and is entering a technical age that it may have lagged behind for a while. Now it may very well become a leader in that new age. If you were at the Get Together last week you saw construction/work on several new landmarks and shops. 2 years ago there were only 2 Colon based websites based on magic, now there are 8. While other shops are closing, Colon shops are opening. Check out http://www.colonmi.com/ and you will see cooperation, check out http://magiccapitaloftheworld.com/topmagic/index.shtml and you will see cooperation. Check out Abbotts in October and you will see cooperation. I thought it was a pretty civil discussion, opinions were subjective but I don't think anything bad was said (and if I was a gas station charging $4 a gallon I wouldn't be saying anything except "life is good"). |

WOW, is all I can say about the FAB Magic Lectures/Shows. I attended several events at FAB Magic this year and they were all very Talented Entertainers. And with the likes of Dick Stoner, Chen Kai, Barry Mitchell, and others who could have asked for better entertainment and best of all it was FREE. I also did have a FULL Registration to Abbotts and attended many of their events as well. We posted the Magic Café' stickers at FAB and I was able to make a lot of new friends such as Bob Sanders, The Magic Ref, Pastor Terry, Steve Hart, and many others. What I most always like about FAB Magic is that their shop is a place that you can go and just socialize and Rick does not mind the socializing. This year I was on my own as my wife was attending to other business and I spent hours in FAB and met a lot of GREAT People especially the gentlmen from Australia. So next year I urge you to check out FAB Magic and you might be glad you did.

Ok ,
maybe it isn't " fighting " but the constant " I scheduled first" is getting old. Also when I was at last years Close-up Convention I was told by another person attending not to bring up FAB magic. I also know we all have an opinion and are entitled to it. All I'm saying is lets all have fun and keep the art of magic alive! Sorry if I took it wrong, Mark |

I agree, the schedule issue is getting old. This year only two lecture conflicts, hopefully next year there are no conflicts.
