OK. I absolutely love Jumping Gemini by Darwin Ortiz.
It's one of my favorite card tricks. (and by far the hardest one I do) So don't get me wrong when I ask this. Can these types of effects be too much for some people? It just seems that some folks get a little peeved. I did Jumping Gemini last night for some old friends and posed this question to them and they said they loved it and couldn't imagine what I was talking about. Am I misreading people's reactions or what? Is it my presentation maybe? I try really hard to make it as non-challenging as possible. Just a fun card miracle. No disrespect to Jumping Gemini or Mr. Ortiz. I freaking love the trick.
So sorry I soiled your precious eyes.

Forgive me for being in the dark, what is the premise of the trick and which of his books can it be found. You are very enthusiastic of the effect, you peaked my interest.
Thanks, Bruce |

I actually learned from Greg Wilson's "Double Take" video.
It involves having four cards, showing them all to be fours, then tens, then kings. I guess you could use any combination of cards but the darn thing is so hard that I use the same ones from the video to avoid confusing myself. (took me six months to learn it well enough to show people) It just seems to rub some people the wrong way and I was wondering if anyone else had this type of experience with very sleighty tricks and routines.
So sorry I soiled your precious eyes.

It sounds like a good trick. What in its performance, do you think makes people have the reaction that they do? Is it presented as a sucker trick or some kind of puzzle? I am familiar with Reset and can imagine if it was performed as a challenge how it might get that reaction.
Thanks for sharing, Bruce |

Is the presentation entertaining? What is the patter like? Obviously, there is a lot of magic going on, but other effects like call of the wild does also with a nice patter to make it flow with purpose.

I also love the effect: Jumping Gemini and I think that if the spectator has only seen that type of trick for the first time it can be quite amazing for them.

I've seen you do this trick - many times - and it kills! So much is going on, I wonder if you slowed it down a bit they can take it in and start to get the miracles that are happening..............

HAHA, what's up Mr. Kohler? Thanks for the kind words.
I was wondering when our paths would finally cross in here. I have been trying to slow it down. Take a little more time between the phases to make it fun. And not a challenge.
So sorry I soiled your precious eyes.
