Hello I was wondering if someone could tell me the length of the ropes used in the Professors Nightmare?
I already know how to perform this effect, but I lost my ropes and I don't want to fork over 15 dollars just for a rope and some instructions I already have in my head.

Rope "A" = 8 inches

Rope "B" = 16 inches

Rope "C" = 32 inches

(These lengths are for example only. Your lengths my vary!)

I agree, the three ropes have to each end up as "equal" in length. Hence, the total of the shortest rope and the longest rope divided by 2 would have to equal the length of the "middle" rope.

Perhaps, a simpler method (for us mathematically challanged magicians) would be to just take a long length of rope of approximately 5 foot in length, fold it into "three equal lenghts", cut one length at the loop (this will be the middle piece, piece "B") and, from the remaining "double length" of rope, cut off a short piece of rope about 8"-10" (this is the short piece, piece "A") and the remaining longest piece becomes the longest piece of rope for the routine (piece "C"). Using this method does not require that you use any fixed lengths for your formula.

Okay Jay! You made me get out my ropes and measure them. They are as follows:

Rope "A" Short = 15 inches

Rope "B" Medium = 32 inches

Rope "C" Long = 52 inches

When performed they are all equal at the critical moment!

So I guess that mine's bigger than yours!

I tried it and it works pretty well
