I am considering buying a Destination Box (Jon Allen). Has anyone used it and if so, is there a big learning curve to performing with it. I'm hearing that it takes a lot of practice to get down. Any comments?

When I have more time to do so, I will review in full, but I have been using this for a while now, and have to say it is my best EVER investment in Magic. The reactions it gets are killer, and helped me to win a Magic competition in the South West of England a couple weeks ago. Yes it takes practise to get it perfect, but not a lot, and there isn't a big learning curve to performing with it, in my opinion.
Any questions, just ask |

I agree with Christopher, it's very easy to learn and perform. The dvd that accompanies the box is very comprehensive.
I'm very pleased with mine. Coops |

The Destination Box is one of the best magic purchases I have made. The quality was outstanding and the DVD teaches you every step of the routines. I am sipmly an amatuer and have very limited skills with sleight of hand and I was able to pick it up with the DVD and practice. Plus if you have any questions you can PM Mr. Allen and he always get's back to you very quickly. I can't recommend the Destination Box enough.

Hi billm55 (is that Bill for short?),
Please do feel free to PM with any questions you have about the Destination Box and I'll be more than happy to answer them for you. I will leave it to others to tell you what they think of working with it. I would say that it does not require any difficult moves above and beyond regular versions that are out there. I should also point out that I have recently had a new batch made so I have plenty in stock! To the guys who have commented, thanks for the kind words. It's nice to know that there are other magicians (not in my neck of the woods!) who are reaping the beneifts of this item. Chris, I wait with baited breath for your review. Lots of people review items they have just received so it will be good to get the view of a 'worker'. Jon

Hi Jon,
I hope to pick this up soon, after a bit of saving. Can I order from you direct? When are you coming to Cape Town to give us a lecture and put your feat up in the sun... Cheers, Kyle |

Hi Kyle,
Yes you can order this directly from me. With all that sun you don't need to spend money on heating bills so that's some money saved already I have some in stock ready and waiting to be shipped out. As for coming to Cape Town, it's rude to just turn up without an invitation..... Cheers, Jon

Highly recommended! I was one of the first to buy one way back when Jon released them. Of course, keep it close to you when attending magic meetings / conventions. Mine just DISAPPEARED at one. Now if I could only find the magician who did it .... GRRRRR!!!!!!
But, for card to box ... the BEST I think!

I also had one vanish. I was lecturing in Italy and I started with three on my table and, without selling one, I had two left.
I heard that Ketih Barry used it on the Paul O'Grady show here in the UK. He did a headline prediction routine but apparently didn't use the usual method with the box. Anyone have a copy of it they can send me???

Keith also used it on the "Ellen" show a couple of days ago. Apparently, he sent the box to the Ellen Show several days prior to his appearance.
He asked Ellen to think of any card in the deck - the Jack of Hearts. He then showed the contents of the box, which contained a miniature deck of cards and his grandfather's pocket watch. He dumped the contents of the box into his hand and gave Ellen the pocket watch to hold. First he showed that the JH was the only face down card in the deck, and then he asked Ellen to open the pocket watch, which contained the headline prediction. It matched - almost word for word - the headlines on the front page of the Los Angeles Times that day. The look on Ellen's face was priceless. All she could say was "How?" Robert |

That wasn't a destination box he used on Ellen, was it?

Really? Then, that's a mighty strange coincidence if he did what sounds like the same routine on a UK show. Honestly, I'm not 100% sure since I don't own a Destination Box.

I just watched it on YouTube.
It's not his grandfather's pocket watch that's inside with a mini deck of cards but his grandfather's pillbox. I can tell you for sure it is a Destination box. I know because I have 47 that look exactly the same in my garage!
