EBay is what I always use to get coins. It is probably your best bet outside the US.

Check any coin shop you can get to.

You can certainly obtain the coins via e-bay, but you're at a disadvantage in that they're not actually in front of you, which makes matching a set difficult.
Depending on what part of Mexico you're in, I would suggest stopping by a coin shop in Texas if you ever decide to visit the states. Just as a heads up, the price of silver has gone nuts ever since 9/11, so be prepared to shell out some serious cash. |

You may consider calling a reputable coin dealer in the US and asking them to ship you however many Morgans based on your preferences (i.e. certain years, levels of wear, toning, etc.). PM me if you need a good coin dealer.

Check out Heartland.com
They have sets of 5 reproduction Morgans, silver plated in a collectors case for $29.95 They look identical to the actual Morgans in mint condition. I bought 2 of these sets and am very pleased. Spectators think they are genuine even when I pass them out.

I would say get real morgans. Silver plated ones may be cheaper.. but soon enough the plating is going to chip off.
You don't want people to think your using gimmick coins when you are actually not. (or when you are for that matter) Shawn

What is the going rate for these? Any tips on buying them?
I'm looking for 3 of them, for the Grandpa's coins routine as talked about here on the Café. (I also have "come fly with me" in morgans, but those are pretty gimmicked up!)

I just got some nice morgans at a local gold and sliver shop...20 each...the price of silver was like 25 so it was a good deal. They were the cull or junk coins but they work for me.

I'm fortunate enough to live in area with several coin shops. Usually you can get a good deal on the ones that aren't "collector quality." I think The Magic Warehouse also sells Morgans for about $25 if you need an internet source. http://themagicwarehouse.com/

Yes, if you love fake Morgans, you will LOVE "Illusion Coins" or whatever that MM knockoff of U3F was. Ha. I have seen a few of the fake Morgans, some came from a swap meet at the Magic Castle actually. They are magnetic because they are made of cheap pot metal. They will ring like a tire, and you can be proud to support counterfeiting on ebay, because the expensive Trade dollars, etc. are being replicated and sold as originals. You can contact these Chinese ebay guys and they will make you whatever fake you want. |

Oh, I don't know...it's not such a big deal and these fakes are not billed as the real thing. In fact, most are stamped as repicas or copy. I think the use of "counterfeiting" is a bit over the top here. Not to mention that no one cares, definitely not laymen, what your coins are made of, that's certainly not part of the patter. Just like you usually don't tell a spec the name of a trick you're presenting, or something like that.
This is America and this is capitalism and freedom, just used by someone else...You got a problem with that, because that's the American way? These coins work pretty much like the real ones for what you use them for, what's the big deal with picking up a few for much less money to play around with? I have some myself and they work fine. For the people that know what Morgans actually are, even they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Anyone that sees that over the effect you just did with them probably isn't the kinda guy you'd want to share a beer with to begin with. Oh and I love the Illusion Coins, nice coins. Might not be a Mazzerati but hey Mustangs are pretty cool too.

I feel that those who have the skills can do magic with a rusty slug and the ones that just can't - spend the most time !@#$%ing and over criticizing simple ass props.
Aren't there effects that even call for dollar sized washers from any hardware store?! Wait, don't tell be there are real washers and fake clad ones. |

To each his own on the coins, walk into any coin shop and ask the owners if any of these Chinese coins have ended up being sold as authentic on ebay, and the answer will be, yes they have...however, "Illusion Coins" is a direct knockoff of U3F and that is a whole other can of worms.

Yes, to each his own (notice you didn't say that initially).
As to Illusion Coins, all I said is that they are nice coins and they are. I don't know about any such knockoff of U3F but if it made it more affordable for people to do that trick from what that trick cost, then let people buy what they can afford...Or should they not buy it until they can afford it or never have it? If a less expensive alternative exists, why not have at least the choice of it? Again, Mazzerati-Mustang aka "to each his own," right?
