However you can get most of the same gaffs for these that you can for Morgans......If silver continues to go up I'll have to consider going back to Ikes, Morgans are getting expensive to replace when I lose one.

I just bought some bicentennial Ike's from Ray Komka Coins. Very good price for what I got. I'd like to get some Morgans someday but my budget says "no way" right now. One day when I get "good" at my coin magic I may upgrade but for now my Ike's are doing just fine. I've showed a few of my friends some coin magic and they didn't seem to mind that they were Ike's and not Morgan dollars at all.
To be honest, I really don't think that most people would notice what type of coin you are using to perform an effect as long as they are entertained. Well, maybe another magician might notice, but IMHO most people probably won't know the difference. Just my 2 cents... (real Lincoln pennies)
It's not the size of the wand that matters, it's the "magic" in it...

Isn't the Chinese coins we buy from the magic shops mostly fake ? but, we still use them. I don't hear anyone crabbing about them.
Real coins, fake coins, washers, slugs, rocks, cookies, what ever.... the props are not the magic, you are. use what works for you I always say. I'm just saying. Tim

I wouldn't say the illusion coins are a rip-off of U3F. It's a 3 fly that uses the same gaff coin but the routine is different and more extensive than U3F. Basically it's just another version of the original 3 fly routine by Jonathan Townsend and, later Chris Kenner. I think the confusion over this was due to the demo that MM put out. It did look like U3f but the actual routine taught was different. Not too bad actually.
As for fake morgans, I have a few and they're pretty good. True they don't have the silver 'ring' to them but neither do any of the Chinese or copper coins that we all use. If you're on a tight budget it's a great way to get some nice looking coins for just a few dollars. Spectators would certainly never know the difference. If you can afford it get the real thing but if you can't then go for fakes. IMO they look nicer than ikes. Regards Sean |

The Chinese are also making 90% silver Morgans, not marked as reproductions.
Haven't seen them on the market yet. The numismatists are probably going nuts about this.

I've handled Joe Mogar's "Magical Morgans" and they feel pretty good. Nice, semi-antiqued finish, sharp milled edges, and they holdout on a magnet. They don't sound like silver, but they don't sound too bad. If you're on a budget, or if you work with magnets, these are worth having: http://joemogar.tripod.com/id24.html

For curiosity I polished one of the Morgans coins replicas and lo and behold now it perfectly matches my Morgan coin S****. The look of this polished coin is exactly the same of my others Morgan coins.
In fact I am thinking after this experiment on buying more of this affordable coins and using them for practice and for performing Roth's routines that don't required soft coins.

Silver_coins.org http://silver-coins.org/1894_morgan_o_dollar.html has good information on identifying fake silver coins.
Worth a look before you buy.
