I was wondering which one you would recommend...which one has a stronger effect?
Thank you. |

B'Wave is better. B'Wave is a MENTAL effect, and Twisted Sisters is a MAGIC effect. It depends on what you are going for. As for myself, I have found that B'Wave has gotten my the better reactions.

As a mental effect, B'wave. No question. Twisted Sisters is an excellent card effect, so its a case of use as and where appropriate!

Can't you do the B'wave trick with the Twisted Sisters cards?

Are you asking about the Brainwave deck or the 8 Card Brainwave Packet Trick?

I may be the only worker out there who has never fully appreciated B'Wave. This is a one in 4 chance (and don't they almost always choose the Q of H anyway?).
But when John Bannon demonstrated Twisted Sisters before its release at a FFFF convention the reaction was overwhelming. I strongly suggest not doing the Elmsley Count and just going for the straight mental effect. As good as the magician's choice can be, the clear lack of magician's choice makes this trick incredible. |

I would call both of them magic effects. Both are very powerful, too. You really cannot choose. They are both way too good.

B'Wave by Phil Goldstein (Max Maven)
(my description) The magi places four cards on the table and announces that they are the four queens. He mimics removing 2 and places them on invisible hooks and has the spectator name whether they are the black of red queens that were removed. Continuing, the magi motions as if to remove an additional card and hangs it on a third hook. The magi then motions as if to flip over a card in the packet. (note that the magi has not touched the packet since they were placed on the table.) He now asks the spec which card is left in the packet that he make-believed flipped over. After the spec names the card the magi gingerly and with one finger spreads the packet of cards very carefully so there can be no deception to reveal that the named queen is indeed face up. As a added punch the magi demonstrates that since the other queens are still on the invisible hooks there are no faces on the other cards and indeed the chosen card is the only one with a different colored back. I use this effect nearly every show. It's great.

I think both are excellent. However, I like B'Wave just a tiny bit better. It has more clarity of effect--TS can sometimes be confusing to audience members, even when clearly presented (as can all transposition effects).
I added a little something to my B'Wave that plays very well for me. You may be able to adapt it if you like the concept. Instead of leaving the other three cards blank, I wrote "Great" on one, "Scott!" on the second and "It's MAGIC!" on the third. So at the end when I say that I knew they would choose that card and I turn over the other three cards, it reads: "Great Scott! It's MAGIC!" This is, of course, the name of my business. Something else you might be interested in if you like this effect is Jon Racherbaumer's "Fried Thrice." This is a marketed manuscript which is a three-phase routine, useing B'Wave for the climax. It is VERY strong.

I prefer B'Wave, because it's more direct.

I wrote "Great Scott, It's Magic" on my B'wave cards and got really strange reactions . . . especially after I told them it was the name of a magic dude out in Idaho.
I did give them your phone number, however. |

Brainwave is an excellent effect, however I still get great reactions with Twisted Sister. My personal fav of the two is TS.

I'd have to disagree with that! I have his book--exceptional material from a very clever, creative man.
