for tablehopping I prefer the MD color die for going around Proximity. If you want to present for friends on parties etc. I think Proximity is the right choice. You cannot use MD for which-hand. Gunthard |

Actually, according to the second 8/23 post earlier in this thread, you CAN do a Kurotsuke effect with MD! (Not a "Which Hand" effect, but close.)

Totally possible if you are proficient at directing your spec and you provide proper justification for asking them to do what you ask them to do (this applies with the method of using MD for it that I'm thinking of, someone else might have a more clever approach to this, mwah ha ha).

Or, since you have MD, then you might just as well get Proximity, complete your package, and now you have the ultimate combo, you can do the very best what hand routine and MD.

A bit confused? Hopefully someone can help out. Ive owned MD for 10 months & like most think its great (really wouldnt be without it) but when I want to use Proximety the Our specail unit is picking up on the cube & confusing the reading ?

I found a small 'Pill" type box, at an antique dealer, that I keep MD in, so it will not interfere with Prox when I use both, I also think that, if you are familiar with EZ-Pass, the foil pack it comes in works even better. The best thing to do is remove the batt, not the most practical, but it only takes seconds to do. If your not familiar with EZ-Pass, google them , call them and you will probably get the bag at no charge.

Dave, that's a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Craig sells a bag, used in his "Red Handed" effect, that would block the signals. Alum. foil and bags that keep food warm from fast food restaurants should work as well. But the MD cubes are supposed to "stop" after a short while. If left untouched, there shouldn't be any interference issues, correct?

The thing to remember is to perform with MD first and make sure that at the end, it's placed away on a flat surface and also that you've allowed MD to finish transmitting the full cycle of signals. If you start to use any of the other Promystic products while MD is still sending, your unit will be picking up on the MD rather than the other things you are using.

Then using Proximity after doing MD is certainly possible, so long as you allow the MD cube to cycle fully, even if the cube hasn't gone into "deep sleep" mode?
Thanks, DK |

Yes. This is because MD will send the signal a X number of times after which it will be on standby unless it senses that it is now on a different value. Just make sure that it's sitting on a flat surface, doesn't get rotated, and that it has sent the signal through a full cycle (just patter for a minute and you will notice when it has stopped sending signals).

I use both in my show all the time. I use MD first and proximity near the end and I have never had a problem. As was stated above just make sure the cube has run it's full cycle, I set it down in the #1 spot, that way if it gets bumped by accident, it just has to cycle through the one and not a larger number say like #six.

I'm sorry for not reading through this entire thread, but has it been mentioned that you could hide the MD cube (or just the chip) within a larger cube (for example, a photo cube) and, for example, have the Spec think of a scene, city, picture, person, wanted killer, movie poster, etc. from six different ones?
This may seem like a regression, since the miniaturization is an important part of Craig's invention; however, there are many presentational possibilities by employing a picture or photo cube. Hiding the cube in an inverted hat or bag would make the upper side the logical one for the Spec to focus on. DK |

@DK
you can hide the cube or chip within other things as long they are not made from metal. Gunthard |

But you need to be able to secure it and balance it, I used a large 12 inch square cube with amazing results.

Dark Knight, if you simply secure it in the corner, then your balance is off, and although the unit is very light, it will still be felt by the spectator, I use wheel weights, I got them for free from my local gas station, they can be easily adjusted to be the exact weight and they have an adhesive back, doesn't get much easier than that, for the MD unit, I wrap it in velcro, with the other velcro stuck to the cube, then of coarse, the photos in the cube , hide it all.
