I've had MD for a while now, and it really is incredible how well Craig has engineered and built this. This is the best made device I own.

When I first spoke with Craig he was very helpful. He didn't mind spending some time on the phone with me, and after my questions were asked and answered I made the decision to buy MD.

When I buy a new effect that I haven't seen in the flesh I am generally disappointed in the quality of manufacture, and sometimes the effect itself when I finally receive it.

I was as usual, quite excited about the prospect of receiving a new effect for my arsenal. As I said, anticipation sometimes sets you up for disappointment.

I received MD in record time. When I opened it up for the first time I was very impressed at how well made it was.
I can't possibly express how completely and very pleasantly surprised I was.

If I had the brains and the talent to produce an effect like this, I would have designed it exactly as Craig has.

And by the way, if I haven't said it enough already, Craig's customer service can't possibly be matched.

Thank you Craig for dreaming up such a magnificent piece of magical art.

Hello All,

Thank you very much for all your comments. The generosity of the magic community has been overwhelming. I want you all to know that I continue to invest in MD and new technology and will be bringing it to you soon.

I have several exciting announcements, two are included here. I do not plan to put them all in this post so hang with me over the next week.

The first thing is I now have the long awaited forum section open on my site for secret discussions about promystic products and routines. I have not worked out all the bugs so please make suggestions to make this a useful tool for you.

The second and most important item

I am now in possession of a 40+ page MultiDimensional book written by Jerome Finley. Let me say that again, JEROME FINLEY! I don't think I need to say any more! If you are a mentalist and don't know Jerome, you should. This will likely be one of Jerome's last published works for some time and I am proud beyond words that it is dedicated to MultiDimensional.

This book contains over 10 routines, handling, and subtleties for MultiDimensional. There is also a generous amount of information on readings that can be used with all of the MD die, including the new reading cube. These are tested routines right out of Jerome's paid performances. Jerome is an extremely gifted mentalist, performer, and writer. I am sure you will be overwhelmed with this material.

I want to personally thank him for this remarkable contribution. This ebook and several other items will be available to promystic customers on the forum in the next week, so get signed up.

Warm Regards,
-Craig

Yours should be there soon!

And, yes, it will be a free copy of Jerome's book to MD customers!

What is the casino die made of? Plastic?

Has anyone had any problems with a spectator questioning the die, or does it look and feel like a regular die?

I believe that it's a plastic die and as long as the weight and feel of the die is hollow, I think it should pass suspicion (to me personally, if I see a plastic cube, I usually expect it to be empty inside thus I expect it to be light). Of course you would have to explain why you are carrying a die around with you if you are in a "impromptu" situation. Justifying it for formal performance situations would be much easier though.

Just received mines moments ago Smile To correct my above post, the die is VERY well made and the way the trap door is secured is pretty genius. The box panels are made of wood with a plastic overlay. The electronics in it are very well put together as well. Oh happy day this thing is cool!

As to the weight, it's not exactly a empty shell kind of feel to the weight but it's pretty light which should allow it to pass under suspicion with your audience. I shall be having some funy with this thing Smile

I've never had anyone question the weight or as to it being a hollow cube. As a matter of fact I think that due to its being so light that its hard to imagine that there is anything inside! The only thing that might possibly give it away is the 6 inch antenna sticking out of its side! (Only joking as for those that do not own it!) I have however had the occasional spectator hold it up to their ear and shake it. The only thing that might rattle when shaken is my head! All in all this thing is pretty well "spectator proof".

I'm still on the fence about buying this. I always want to use normal items. There is just something about a hollow die, hollow? Most of your audience members will have experience with using dice, whether it be from gambling to playing yahtzee or other board games. The dice are solid, not hollow.

I'm probably just being paranoid, but how do you explain this hollow slightly large die, what was it made for? Where did you get it?

With Tim Wissemans, you can relate a story of how your grandfather made it for you, out of wood. Sentimental value, etc.

I still may purchase this, but it needs justification due to the odd features.

MD feels and looks like a novelty die or a toy die. It's quite innocent and I've been using it on people all day yesterday right after I received it. Not once did they think that the die was gaffed. As long as your hook of how you are able to accomplish what you are doing is plausible, they will believe it 100%. Even bystanders watching you perform will try to use your false explanation themselves and in turn they will try to use that false method to guess at the thought of side of the die along with you. Honestly, the Wisseman die just does not look normal at all. It's too big to be a toy or a normal die. Giving a story about your grandfather etc. etc. to many in the audience would feel contrived because something like that feels like a made up narrative.

Another thing to remember is reliability. Craig's work is rock solid and I would rely on his workmanship for mission critical performances 110%. MD would be the second item I've purchased from Craig thus far so I've given his products two chances to totally wow me and I would have to say I'm am way more than just wowed!

Im probably over analyzing. I have seen performers "wow" a crowd only later to hear audience members talking about magicians "props". I always try to use items that they would feel are normal and would not question it. A normal dice would never be questioned.

I will order this eventually and see for myself. Thanks for taking the time to respond and share your experiences with it.

I'm going to try to see if I can pass this off as a knick knack that I've picked up at a trade show. The toyish nature of the die lends itself to the plausibility of that explanation.

Thanks guys,

Really glad you like it.

I try not to jump in too much on the thread because it is hard not to sound like I'm selling something.

The first time I ever performed it for magi I put the little piece into an Adams cardboard color cube. Nobody suspected it because of the size, weight, and preconceived notions. These can all be used to your advantage.

You could shove it into a jumbo foam die if you wanted to. Or a fuzzy die that hangs from your rear view mirror. Perform it back to back with the larger die. I am a bit surprised nobody has mentioned it, but with 6 months of b*****y, it would be worth it to sew/glue it into something like a foam die or fuzzy die for stage work.

I will tell you, and it is in this thread somewhere else, the #1 preferred die is the color cube. The die is a close second and the cold reading cube is getting popular. People have commented that all the die are good, but the color cube just looks like a kids toy, a happy meal prize, etc! I had someone tell me they told people the casino die came with a book they bought on how to read body language. He used the name of a real book that is popular (from an FBI agent) and people commented, "yes, I've seen that". Talk about dual reality

One thing you do not want to do is perform something you are not comfortable with. Your spectator will be reading your body language;)
