It got an okay review from Michael Close in the April issue of Magic Magazine. He said that it was a good trick if performing for 1, 2 and possibly 3 people.

I know the maker of MELT, he gave me a demo of himself doing it. It is pretty clever, but it's not one of those tricks that can be done for many people. I have not performed this before, but I know the angles are VERY strict.
This trick has to have perfect angles, it's more of a diagonal view, if you can't get a view like that you can get caught. Good luck. |

I think this is not an original effect. Melt is a lot like Now U See It Now U Don't and Miracle Money. The original effect comes with a video, a manuscript, and the gimmick made, and the effect is explained in great details, unlike Melt. I do not like Melt.

In performing, I subscribe to the need for natural and straight forward actions. Melt is not something I can recommend. I appreciate the creativity, however, the angles leave you alot to be desired. I would venture to say that sleights would be a better method for this.

I don't think it's a bad idea in itself, but I find the angles too restrictive to perform it often.
I have seen Melt performed extremely well but, for my performance style, it's an unnatural way to make a vanish. That said, I've recently tried applying the principle as an alternative to an Imp Pass, with some success. |

This has already been done with Fickle Nickle and Now you See it... I purchased it and find it to be garbage. marien_zc, what kind of effect are you looking to do? Are you familiar with sleights that can be used?
In addition, I think that using the back of your hand to vanish an object is not a natural action. There are far more effective vanishes or transpos that can be used on place of the gimmick expertmagic.com uses. Just food for thought... |

It looks impressive on the video, but to perform it, you need better luck.

I reccomend Now-U-See-It-Now-U-Don't, it comes with a booklet and video along with the gimmick, many of the vanishes and productions are very visual and both hands can be shown on both sides with fingers spread.

I do not recommend NOW U C YOUR MONEY NOW YOU don't.
I bought this trick like ten years ago for 40.00 dollars, and it is terrible! Yea the coin vanishes but it doesn't completely leave your hands and the coin is stuck there. The raven is way better and can do a lot more, and the object completely vanishes or changes. It still boggles me why anyone would buy that when the raven is available, and I believe it's cheaper? |

Raven is like $23.50, melt is $15. I have both.....I haven't bothered making melt, although I would like to try. I don't have any *** to keep the ** in place. The angles......as long as the people are in front of your arm....it's good.

I have melt and, I think, in the right situation, it could be used to get a quick 'wow'. I would only perform it once, to one or two people at a time, (though it is instantly repeatable), and get my 'wow'. By careful concealment of the gimmick you can show both sides of your hands long enough to be seen as 'clean' before and after the trick, but not after the initial vanish. The re-appearance of the coin, for me, spoils the effect of the vanish!

I love this effect!
Its so simple and the angles are surprisingly good! Easy set up,portable. I've only ever had good reactions from melt! It feels rather weird and obvious when performing but with a little practice the motion can be very smooth. |

Once again I'm very glad I read all the reviews posted here for 'MELT'. I first saw the online demo a few weeks back. After my first viewing, I was honestly BLOWN AWAY. I kept watching it over and over, and realized after awhile that it was probably VERY angly, having an idea of the workings. I have a rather large library of Coin Magic materials, so it wasn't too difficult understanding the principal.
From reading all the reviews for both MELT and REVOLUTION, I believe the consensus is that REV. is a superior illusion, with no gimmicks. I think I will begin, once I purchase it that is, Revolution, together with my favorite Spellbound routine. Mike Rubenstein offers a wonderful assortment of ideas for this on his Ency. of Coin Magic series. The more I watch the online demo of Revolution, the more I think how much stronger it could be if combined with another powerful classic, like Spellbound (or whatever your favorite coin effect is), which has always been one of my favorite effects in Coin Magic. This is just 'my' thinking. magically smitty |
