Hey everyone...
I was reluctant to post this... But I would like some honest feedback... I was asked to do the interview 20 mintes before hand so there is little to no prep... let me know what your thoughts are... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cgqc9BVvuGs J

That was a great interview for being live. You handled it great. Even when the girl was like "what am I thinking?". You made a great joke and she didn't think it was that funny bc she really wanted her mind read. You then read the situation great and became a little more serious explaining how the process works. GREAT JOB!!

Jay,
Well done, sir! Very smooth. I love that lady's accent by the way, haha. And why must they always ask "can you put it back together?!" Haha you handled it well. -T.J. |

I've been in these situations before and it can be tough, but it's all about being prepared and being fully in the moment just like you did here, Jay. You handled yourself just fine and because of your performance on the clip you probably had more people interested in coming to your show to see what you're all about.

Very well done, Uri Geller would be proud I am sure.
You handled a very tuff situation very well. And you explained your craft as it should be explained. The only thing I would say is if you have the opportunity to do this again that you have some reason for having forks, make a comment about barrowing them from one of the food vender's or something, just a suggestion. Congrats and I am sure your phone will be buzzing now. -Floyd
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

You came across extremely well:
Personable, likeable, confident, very articulate. With not just a strong mind, but a strong body as well !! Your descriptions / explanations as what exactly you do, did not sound hokey at all. Very well done spoon (actually, fork) bends. You converted the show presentor into a believer. When she asked you to read her mind, she was'nt throwing you a challenge: she actually believed you could do it. And you fielded this difficult question masterfully: no fumbling, no hesitation, not a trace of nervousness: just a confident, knowlegeable and credible answer. Just 20 minutes notice: you are so totally at ease on television, that even this short notice was 20 minutes too long. VERY VERY GOOD. And thanks for sharing this interview with us. |

Do you introduce yourself as magician or mentalist ?
On this video you're introduce as magician, if you sell yourself as mentalist I think it's not very good. Anyway if you sell yourself as magician this video is perfect

Hi Jeff,
Bravo! Good stuff! Wow, when you melted the fork Angel was eating out of your hand... she was darn taken with you.... and she certainly supported your premise! Just a thought (hindsight 20/20) when she said "what am I thinking of?" look at her and say "C'mon - there is no way I can say that on TV!" Wink wink nudge nudge. She'll have no come back to that but maybe blush - the beauty of it is since nothing is written down that can finally be used for you when its TV small bit! Glad to see you are getting CTV air time!!! Best regards, Bruce

Wonderful job.
What is really great about it, having been in this situation, is that you moved fast, as you only get a very limited time to get everything in, including plugs which she was professional enough to lead you into. I am sure your routines are longer but you sliced them down for the needs of a quick interview. You came across as very professional, likeable and "real" At times the shirt distracted, and a plainer black or dark one one, or one that plugs your show might have worked better. But all that is your call. Did not like that you showed how easy it is to bend that fork when you started, and if you had time you might have bent it to that first step with psychic powers, but you had to make that choice. Best of luck, Dick Brooks

Extremely well done, especially with such short notice. I do agree with the earlier suggestion that justifying the forks (e.g., suggesting they had just been borrowed from a food vendor) would have been nice, but in this circumstance that is picking nits.

That was really well done. To come across that good, likeable and professional in that short of a time with that short notice was awesome.

Thanks for the feedback everyone... Magicians helping magicians... I LOVE it. Aceofhearts... I thought about this in hindsight. Justification for things like this is important -- and I always justify it. Slipped my mind. Parmenion... This is a slippery slope. I won't get into the full explanation here. Suffice to say there was a bit of a "disregard" for a very important part of my contract pertaining to how I am billed. The venue took a lot of liberty -- and these things were discussed, ads were already printed etc... Long story short. I am a mentalist, and never bill as a magician EVER. (Notice how I tried to dillute that term in the clip) Spec... Great idea! Dick... Time constraints did play a role in my choices here. I intentionally posted this in INNER THOUGHTS because I wanted to discuss the subtlety etc, and allow people to comment freely. But NOW it's in Pennies... Can we please get this moved back to IT? Thank you for all the feedback once again! In public or PM -- MENTALISTS helping MENTALISTS... :) J
