Living room? Heck, I’m a two-Meter magician so that’s almost all I do!
Top five for a mixed age audience: 1. Self-unknotting and sympathetic silk routine 2. Egg-bag 3. Thru the eye of a needle (rope thru spectator) 4. My own Stand-up Sponge routine. 5. Torn and restored something. Normally I perform the T&R signed dollar bill – I have it signed by at least three people using different color sharpies. Or I will do T&R newspaper, signed jumbo card (older audiences), tissue paper, cigarette papers (if teen age audience or adults) This entire act fits in the pockets or one very small briefcase. I have a small metal brief case with a close up pad on top and a flange for a Eureka base so while the act fits mainly in my pockets, I do carry the long rope, the jumbo needle prop, and a folding trash/dump container in it. With the table, dump bag and one jumbo prop the act plays big and fills a small space.

Re: Snowstorm. If you look in a recent copy of MAGIC MAGAZINE... you will see a photo in the 40 Year History of the Acadamy of Magical Arts award show of me doing the WORLD'S RECORD snowstorm (with actor Cary Grant). I was almost completely buried in the snow.
Posted: Oct 21, 2008 12:24pm I would also suggest the Vanishing Couch for a great living room impact effect.

For adults as I do not perform for kids:
1)Wine Bottle Production - Great visual opener to establish myself as a magician. It also fits in most dinner party/ living room settings 2) 3 Shell Game - Interactive, comedy, and a great way to connect with the crowd 3)Bill Switch - I use money in the presentation for my 3 shell game that precedes this so it flows well into the bill switch routine. I actually turn a $100 into a $1. The $100 (with serial numbers remembered then ends up in a lemon at the end of the show) 4) Ambitious card with card in wallet ending. Depending on the size of the audience, I go to different parts of the audience for different phases so that the audience experiences the effect right in front of their noses. The card in wallet finale is done in front of everyone. 4)Blindfold Act - a more serious and mind boggling piece. Any strong mentalism piece works well here. 5)Bill in Lemon - Time tested strong finale Everything fits in a small case. I also do an illusion show (not for living room) so I always welcome such shows as it packs small and I do not need a truck |

Giant B'Wave
Crystal silk Cylinder Neilson Vanishing Bottle Appearing Rocky from a Dove Pan 3 Purse Monte (my effect with 3 small leather coin purses) The spectator gets to pick one of the purses which is no force and ends up with a dollar bill. They think they have won until I remove a 50.00 and 100.00 dollar bill from the 2 remaining purses. They remember this one. Steve

In no particular order, these are my favorites to perform at home, not at a show:
1)Whitestar or OOTW 2)Al Baker's Haunted Pack presentation from "Pet Secrets" (spectator traces circles on the rug around the deck while it cuts itself...WOW) 3)Deep Astonishment 2 4)Dean's Box 5)Whatever's interesting to me at the time. At a show in someone's home? 1)Radar Deck or Tossed-Out-Deck 2)metal bending 3)Invisible Touches and PK Touches 4)Drawing Duplication 5)Whatever's interesting to me at the time.

For Adults, my favorites are :
OFF THE CUFF:(A comical thumbcuff escape) SWITCHBOARD CLIPBOARD:(From Hocus-Pocus, it's similar to Cardiographic, but with a clipboard and also super quick reset and no refills to buy) WIZARD'S MANUAL:(A mental effect by Doc Hilford, but with my own reworking to make it more deceptive. Also with an addition of the page appearing between 2 laminated pieces of cardboard in an envelope like in Richard Osterlind's version of the Pegasus Page in his DVD set "No Camera Tricks") This effect gets great reactions. SILK TO EGG: Viking's make of it CUT & RESTORED ROPE ROUTINE (Comical Version) SWORD THRU NECK (Comical) Kid Shows: CHICO THE CHIMP:(Inexpensive, but great reaction from the kids. It can be purchased from Hank Lee's Magic Factory) PRO CHECKER TUBE: (An effect from Grant manufactured by Mak Magic Company) KNOT FUNNY: (An effect by Kandu, purchased at Hocus-Pocus) THE PRO VIPER: (A snake basket effect by Terry Lunceford that is scary right when it happens but very funny to both the kids and the parents/adults right afterwards) DOVE IN BALLOON: (Always gets a great reaction) Those are some of my favorites that get some of the best reactions |

Here are mine:
