Which actually has nothing to do with a pocket watch except that Looch's inspiration was a Bob Cassidy routine that DID use said pocket watch!
Anyone using this? Must admit I had overlooked it for a while (stupidly). I took a shine to it again recently upon re-reading SAD and decided to give this baby a polishing and performance. Man am I pleased I did! The first thing that became apparent was that Looch's "Peel" technique taught in this routine is a simple idea with tremendous power! I have come up with a couple of aplicatins for it already. In fact there is a vast range of simple yet devastating bits of business Looch divulges in this book if you take the time to go looking and actually DO the routines. I decided to incorporate 3 Will DeCeive type gimmicks into the routine. It was nice to be able to show the deck although I feel part of the genius of Looch's method for the card selection is it's simplicity and directness so I am undecided which one I will use long term. The main reason I wanted to mention this is that response I got made me wish I had added it to my walk around set when I first discovered Looch's wonderful book. How many gold nuggets have we all cast aside?? BTW, A nod to pocket watch routine is now also released on DVD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R1G9SAgW0c Cheers, Al

Looch's “A Nod to Pocket Watch” was the inspiration for “A Perfect Prediction” which is sort of taught in one of the Switchcraft supplements.
It’s one of the best predictions in the entire series. Unfortunately, it is also one of the least used pieces because I only taught the barebones mechanics. I referred the reader to Looch’s SAD and Cassidy’s Artful Mentalism for the presentation and subtleties. People don’t like to do a lot of leg work. However, those who went the extra mile, have reported being very satisfied with the prediction. Besides, SAD and Artful Mentalism are great books, so you can't go wrong by checking them out. |

I'm a little disappointed that you brought this up!
I've been doing a variation of it for awhile and was hoping to keep it on the down-low. dave

I use my own version of the Pocket Watch Premonition. The routine is continuous (meaning no changing effects due to method), and eliminates cards or other props.
It's a self contained two-phased prediction effect. Jason. |

In the book there was the use of a deck of cards for one phase. I re-evaluated NTPW after speaking with ElliotB regarding incorporating his take in a Switchcraft Supplement. Since then I have several new takes on it. The best being on the Forthcoming DVD where apart from the tin there are no gimmicks. I think you will absolutely love it!

It is good, after lengthy discussion it is also possible to do away with the tin and just use your wallet instead making it practically impromptu all bar the mini Postit note block...
