Here's the thing... the illusion was performed so badly before the reveal. The assistants odd getting out of the way maneuver, the spandex jumping in the right hand box when it was zagged... bad timing or the arm movements.. and throughout the left hand screen was making moves when the box was zagged...This performance was well far gone when the reveal happened..sadly David's curve ball went all the way to the backstop and the runners on base all scored. Game over David...

As I said in a earlier post, this is one of the toughest illusions in magic for the assistants to perform well. Does any one have any experience in other illusions that take this amount of training and expertise on the assistants??

It's maybe one of the toughest to perform but obviously that stupid guy was not ready...I onced performed Don Wayne's floating ball on TV and let me tell you that I rehearsed as hell! Before you get on tv with an effect like this one you've got to spend months practicing everything until you bleed! That guy wanted to be famous. He chose a stupid Criss Angel kind of a look, smiled like a teenage girl after he screwed up everything...He should have run backstage and leave the place! If someone knows the guy, tell him to do us a favour and stop doing magic...He ruined a very beautiful effect! Ken Whittaker must be spinning in his grave!
David, if you can read this, get some make-up remover, get rid of your stupid lipstick and start selling life insurrance. Please! Eric P.S. I know these are harsh words but the guy totally deserves it. Imagine for a second what the guys who own this beautiful effect must feel like... Oh...one more thing...if you know a person who likes to film himself to put tutorials of magic effects on youtube (maybe they would like to be famous too, like David...), beat the s--- out of them. The same with Valentino and the Trick-------that like to show how illusions are performed! Don't know if you feel the same way guys but I really start to be concerned about the future of magic! I really miss the seventies and the eighties with the old Coperfield specials or Henning specials. These were the golden ages of magic. Now 99% percent of the time, we have wannabees that would sell their parents to have a minute on tv or on a computer screen..Shame on them! Soon, a lot of magic shows will have free seats, thanks to David and his little "friends"... OK guys, I feel better now ;-) |

What is really sad is he had to beg to be given a second chance, he got it and he blew it.

John, thanks to you man!
Guys, we must stand as one and save our craft!!! If you personally know these idiots, tell them to leave magic for good. Terry, you're right. To me, he looks like Michael Jackson on steroids or Janet with a masculin kind of a look...Check! He's even wearing lipstick! OMG! Ha! Ha! And he had the nerves to ask the judges for another chance! Run David run! Or drive a formula-one and drive towards a big wall of bricks but pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssseeee don't ask for another chance! You are lucky I was not one of the judges. You'd never leave your house again! Booooooooooooooooo! David Martin rocks????!!!! Yeah yeah... Get rid of the 2 first letters and replace them for other letters! Guys, let's hope he doesn't have the nerves (I'm sure he does but...) to come back next year with an Origami or another beautiful effect! Life insurrance with stooges David. You'll be better!!! It's people like him that make it difficult for the rest of us to get work. It is frustrating to see performers like him doing an unprofessional job. And whats with all the pics of him with cats? He should have brought some of them to AGT. The zoo probably would not let him borrow them for the day.

That is NOT a hard illusion to perform...LOL. Not sure why that is being stated. No harder than twister, and I consider both to be fairly elementary to anyone who understands the word rehearsal!
The guy obviously has an ego that told him he could do anything with practice or not. He learned everybody must practice the hard way. doesn't surprise me the girl works for Angel... looked to me like she was looking for the video editor to fix her mistakes! |

Videokideo, I did not state it was a hard illusion to perform for the magician, it is really a piece of cake. The statement I made had to do with the behind the scenes work by the two female assistants. I do know know of any illusion that is more difficult then this one. Once again, they are working blind, must be perfectly synced, assitant two is in an ungodly position. A postion, that most magic girls can not be in. Only trained dancers of a certain size with proper flexer mustles have worked for me. But I agree with all, this is not an illusion to perform in a high profile situation without much stage experience

If you're a worker, something is bound to go wrong at sometime.
Most of us, if we are even regularly working, are fortunate that the worst thing that has happened has been a dropped TT or a broken IT. And it happened at "Little Johnny's" Birthday Party that may not have even been recorded by a small hand-held video camera. I'm not excusing lack of practice and rehearsal, but it does happen to the best of us! Terry

Terry, I agree with you on that matter. But you see, I'm a hockey player. I love hockey. Oh, and I sing in my shower too. And thinking of it I like basebal! The difference between "David Martin rocks (!)" and I is simple: The guy would contact Sidney Crosby and take a picture with him an would say he's a hockey pro...Then, the day after he would meet Bono and ask him if he would be interested to sing in a wonderful duet that David would produce. And, of course, he would have the guts to call a basabal manager to replace A-Rod...And if would not succeed at replacing A-Rod, he would have the nerves to ask Steinbrenner for another chance... So, our Shadow Vision wrecker once took a picture with Criss. He told himself "hey! I'm the new Criss Angel! Let's grow my hair! And then the day after he had a friend working in a zoo! He asked him if he could take a picture with a wonderful tiger and he thought "hey! I'm Roy Horn!" Then, on the third day he called one of his friends to make a website and he told his friends "please, mention that I'm the "newest magic star!". Right after, he called AGT!!! Now my only hope is that one of his "friends" is an exotic dancer... Then one week after you would read on his website "The Newest Naked Baryshnikhov" and believe me, he would send a demo to "So you Think you Can Dance?"... Eric |

Several months ago I was contacted by David Martin. He was looking to rent the biggest illusion I had for a rock concert at Planet Hollywood. The show was less than 10 days away and he was desperate because he didn't have time to ship his props out from back east. I initially thought he wanted to buy something, but he was looking to rent and hire me to set it up. I had nothing that would do the job, so I called a friend who works with Gay Blackstone to inquire about what she had available. Turns out she had already talked to him, as had Bill Smith about renting a cat cage. A problem with the cats killed the deal, so he was looking for something else. Later on I found out that the "rock concert" was AGT. He had not told any of us about that.

Get ready guys...David Martin will call U2 to replace Bono! hey! We're talking about rock concerts here! The guy is following his dream: Becoming an eerie mix of Michael Jackson and Criss Angel. He's following the same path! Ha!
Videokideo, good point! "doesn't surprise me the girl works for Angel... looked to me like she was looking for the video editor to fix her mistakes! " Please Craig, don't even give the guy a TT! Eric |
