How about the south east corner of State and Congress, which was where S.W. Erdnase met up with M.D. Smith to have the drawings done for "Expert at the Card Table"?

Hmm, very interesting, Silverking, that's a great candidate. I'll add it, but would like to learn more. Can you point me a reference to read about that part of the story, perhaps? Thanks.

The ERDNASE thread on the Genii forum contains many hundreds of posts from learned folk on Erdnase the man.
There are multiple references in that thread to the legendary meeting in the cold hotel room whereupon Smith drew Erdnase's hands for the now legendary book. ....or "The Man Who Was Erdnase" by Busby/Whalley/Gardner. The story is long part of the record. |

Marshall did his hyp act at the Boston Nocturne Club at 4224 West North Avenue. After that he performed at Cairo Supper Club at 4015 North Sheridan Road, just off Irving Park. At the time, the Cairo was THE place and Marshall was very happy to be there. He opened at the club on July 7, 1961.

Thanks, folks, everything except Toto's has been added. (I can find lots of references to Toto's for various events, but none that list its address.)
Also added the site of Max Malini's grave, courtesy of Bill Pack, and a few other goodies. I appreciate all the help! PS: Interesting that Gilbert's location is now a runway at O'Hare. :-/ |

HI, Bill -
I'm not sure, but I'm thinking no. From what I've read, it was a classy Chicago nightclub. That location in Joliet appears to be, looking at in Google maps, a fairly new suburban location. But, I don't know for sure. Thanks for brining it up, I'll note it as a "maybe" until another confirmation comes along. |

Elders Magic, Tom Palmers shop was in the 109 N Dearborn building. Not sure if it was in the same office space as Irelands...And the roundtable was next door at Mayor's Row Restauant in the mid 1960's...opposite from the civic center.

Thanks, Marc. Can you tell me any more about Andruzzi's Elder Magic? I've only ever heard of it in context of a company that Gloria started after divorcing Tom Palmer. (See http://marcomthemountebank.com/gloria.htm)

I've completely re-imagined and rebuilt the Map of Chicago Magic. It had grown substantially over the years and this new format is better suited for the future. The location remains the same, I hope you'l give it a visit, especially if you're coming to town. http://www.chicagomagicstudio.com/map/
